Before I make the Nestabilities "investment"...do they work with the old Sizzix?
I know that I could buy a CB or other die cut machine, but since I already have a Wishblade, I just don't really want another such toy, kwim? I use the Cuttlebug embossing folders without any problem at all...but would love to know if the Nestabilities will work as well. Anyone actually use the old red Sizzix for them...if so what other things do I need to make it work?
I have a Big Shot, a ZipEMate and I consistently use the old Sizzix for my Nestabilities and most other things like the Cuttlebug folders. About the only time I use the Big Shot is when I want to do an embossing folder sideways on a card that is too wide for the Sizzix. It is quick and easy and no figuring out ton of layers or combinations of plates.

I also have a Big Kick and still use my good old reliable Sizzix for my Nesties. So much easier without all the sandwich business and the die doesn't slide around the way it can in the sandwich. It is so much easier to place the die exactly where you want it, especially if you stamp before you cut! I still have to check out one of those switch plates that people have mentioned. I'm still using the acrylic plates that came with my Sidekick. But the original Sizzix is still my favorite machine! The Big Kick works well when I want to cut out a lot of alpha dies at the same time, very efficient. Big Kick is a great machine but the old Sizzix is still my go-to machine.
Yes, it works very well! In fact, I was trying it out for someone and I was really impressed (no pun intended!) with the crispness of the embossing. I thought it was better than the results I got with a Cuttlebug and comparible to what I get with my Wizard. HTH!

I still have to check out one of those switch plates that people have mentioned.
Can someone explain this to me or point me to a thread that explains. I am so excited to know that I don't need to buy anything to make the Nestabilities work...yay!!
I just used a piece of thin plexiglass-it was from the top of my old clik-it eyelet setter. I imagine a piece of acrylic from a picture frame would work, too...
Uh oh, I am thinking "problem" since I have been hesitant to invest in the nestabilities because I thought I might have to purchase another cutting system to use it. I have the old Sizzix and converter and extra thin pieces of chipboard too. Now that I have this information, what to do???
I did get the tan polymer mats from Papertrey for embossing with the original Sizzix - I know there are other things you can use mentioned on other threads but don't know which ones off hand.
I got two extra large sheets of red rubber gasket material (hardware store). Together they cost 1.51, and they were even TOO big, so I had to trim them--I really felt like I was getting my money's worth!

There's such a choice: circles, ovals, squares or rectangles..... classic, scallops, small, large and now petite.
Which ones do I buy!!! Which ones have you all had most use from? Is there a lot of difference between petite and classic? Is it just the number of scallops or is it the size of the shape too?
