I just bought a crop-a-dile last weekend at Michael's with a 40% off coupon, making it just over $17. I love it! I can't wait to use it on my new chipboard coasters that I am getting
Crop a dile..I love mine, I wanted awhile to get it, now I'm thinking, should have got this a lot sooner. I use eyelets more now, because it's so much easier.
Anyone know for sure about the new long reach Crop-a-Dial? If it is coming out, i might wait on purchasing one.
I tried the Silent setter at a crop and thought it was a pain to use. It hurt my wrist. I don't use eyelets at all right now, because I hate to hammer and usually scrap and make cards at night.
I also have this tool that I got at WM that is a gray or black and purple (don't know name). It has a spring. I used it when DD was smaller and needed held a lot. I somehow managed to use it one handed. It is quieter than a hammer, but still not silent, like I want. Maybe I should pull this tool out and use it until I finally get my crop-a-dile.

OOOOH! What's this about a long reach Crop-A-Dile? I haven't heard about this. That would be great.
I was chatting with a fellow retailer who is "in the know" about this kind of stuff, and she said:
"I heard that it would not be possible for it to punch with a long reach - at least through anything thicker than cardstock. You'd lose all your leverage and it would become like the Quickutz - very hard to squeeze for some people.
It would have to become like one of those industrial eyelet setters that sits on a table and looks like a stapler. You'd have to push not squeeze."
I think she has a very good point. So I personally would not wait for a long reach Crop-a-Dile, if you want it get it. Thanks my two cents ;)

I have the SU eyelet setter and love it - may just have to check out the crop-a-dile too. I also have the Karen Foster Clikit - hate it, too hard - must have a very hard surface to use it on. Takes some getting used to. Don't have that much time to spend trying to set eyelet.

I give a HUGE thumbs up to the Crop-a-dile as well, but if you need to make a hole or set an eyelet further from the edge I would totally recommend the Making Memories Instant Setter and while you are at it purchase their new slot kit. It TOTALLY rocks. If you like the slot punch from SU you are going to go bonkers for this kit. Now you can punch slots of different sizes and shape any place on your paper
Has anybody tried the Karen Foster Clikit? I have not opened it yet and since everybody is raving about the Crop-a-dial I am thinking of returning it and getting the crop-a-dial instead.
Any feedback on the Karen Foster Clikit??? Thanks so much!
I have had the ClickIt for over a year and it's my most versatile setter. I love that it has so many sized punches and that there are embossing tips too. I find it easy to "click" and though it's not silent, it's the most quiet spring loaded tool that I have come across. It's also packaged well so that all the parts are kept together and organized.
...now, I LOVE my crop-o-dile too. I use it all the time when it will reach where I am working.
Thank you ladies for your replies to the Karen Foster Clikit question. I think I'm gonna open it and try my luck rather than return it. I will also keep my eye out for the crop-a-dial in stores if there is a really good sale.
I saw this one in use at the stamp and scrapbook expo in Del Mar this last weekend. It was pretty sweet. I am still thinking about the crop a dile with my 1/2 off coupon though.
THEY JUST CAME OUT WITH THE NEW CROP A DIAL ON HSN THIS MORNING IT CAN REACH THE CENTER OF A 12X12 AND DOES MANY OTHER THINGS BESIDE EYELETS GROMETS ETC
The crop a dile II has come out. It reaches to the center of a 12 X 12. The only place that sells it, presently to my knowledge is HSN. They have a exclusive right to sell (that is what I am reading) Here is the link:
(This site won't let me post a link, even though I have posted more than 3 imes....so search we-r-memory-keepers Its called a big bite crop a dile II all in one tool AND it comes with 350 grommets! There is a case available. $39.95.
I have the small on and would not trade it for anything. I broke both of my hands and do not have any grip left. I hole punch with the crop a dile on many pages at the same time, with no effort!
I love my Cropadile, but my very first anywhere eyelet setter was made by Moonshine Designs and I still love it and use it all the time. I had to special order it online. It came with a rubber mallet and a ribbon tied around the handle (I'm a sucker for ribbon), so it is quiet to use. It also doesn't split the eyelets on the back when it sets them.
I use the Fiskars eyelet setter set. It is a springy thing with a hole punch in one end and setter in other. Comes in a package with 3 sizes... Anyway, I do a few little tugs and *VOILA* my eyelet looks great!
There's a new kid (tool) in town. Crop-a-dile now has a #2 called the Big Bite. It has a new design and and even bigger attitude. It will now set grommets, as well as eyelets and brads. It is now designed to reach up to at least 6 inches. That's halfway on your 12x12 papers and pretty darn descent on tins. etc. It aired on HSN 10-11 Jan as a TDS and is not expected to be in retail stores until sometime in March. The TDS price was $34.95 + $5.95sh. The after TDS price is listed as $45.00. I think that is still a good price for what you will get. Oh, did I mention the 350 grommets that come with the tool! There is also a carrying case (sold out but I'm sure that's only a temporary thing). You might want to check it out and see if this will meet your needs. The delivery time as of 01/11/08 was around 02/04/08. Seems like an eternity to a person when they see things and want them right after seeing them....but this one I feel will be worth waiting for , especially since it is an upgrade to the original.
I don't have a crop-a-dile =( However, I'm perfectly happy with the Fiskars set of three punches/setters I bought at Walmart for about $13. It's a spring-loaded type instrument--you pull back on the end and let it go to cut the hole, push your eyelet (or snap) through and flip the tool over to the other end which sets the eyelet with a few pulls and releases. You can place your eyelet ANYWHERE, you're not limited by where a cad can reach
