I got my big shot with store credit so I didn't have to pay for it. If I can find someone to buy it from me I would totally get the SU one.

Same thing happened with my crop a dile. I bought it the month before it was released in the new catty. I still have it because I couldn't justify having to buy another one but when I have to teach it's definately better to have something with the SU logo on it.

I mean we are supposed to be representing the company we work for right?

Im going to wait for Aug 11 to get hostess benifits when I place my order and I will definately be getting those dies!

Hugs and Blessings

I hadn't ever bought the Coluzzle but planned to if it didn't retire, so my question is now with the Big Shot, will I still *need* the Coluzzle? Or are there dies I will buy for the Big Shot that will make the Coluzzle unnecessary?

Default Scallop circles dies

OK, I've read through all the postings here and I don't see this question answered:

Does anyone know the diameter of the scallop circles in the #4 scallop circle die, the #5 scallop circle die and the Birds & Blooms Sizzlit set??

To add my comments to the others:
1. I have a Cuttlebug and because I am mostly a hobby demo I don't see a REAL need to buy the SU! Big Shot - more money that I really don't have. Unless, of course someone just happens to THROW some money into my lap!!!
2. I've been looking at the posted brochure for the SU! set, and personally don't see any reason why the BigZ dies won't work in the CB as they are the same size as the CB plates; as for the longer ones, I don't see any reason why the long ones wouldn't work with the CB since you are "winding" the die through and you can always support the back end as it feeds through. Just my thoughts!
3. I plan on buying the spacer and strip pads and several of the dies. If the longer ones don't work with the CB, well, then I guess I'll just have to "bite the bullet" and buy the SU! one!

I am, however, DEFINITELY EXCITED about this addition!!!

Please excuse my total ignorance when it comes to die cutting machines, guess I'll be brushing up on my knowledge ASAP.

Does anyone know if the new Extended Spacer can be used in the Cuttlebug??

Thx

I just did an internet search which led me to another message board (unrelated to the new SU! release - *gasp*). Someone there said the Bigz would work in the Wizard, and that she got this info from the "people at Spellbinders at an Expo". Great news!!! NOW I can get excited about them!!!!

Thanks in advance! ;)

I'm clearly going to have to learn a whole new technology here... I know I have customers who have and use embossing and die cut systems, but I've ne'er so much as touched one! My rule has been that if I don't sell it, I don't use it (even though I've been hankering to stamp FOR ME more, which I never do, and where it wouldn't really matter).

I'm thrilled that we're offering this and have the exclusive dies, too. That way, even customers who own another system (or the same one, already) can still buy something. And surely there will be more exclusives at a later date!

I'm very tempted to buy the whole kit'n'kaboodle, though I'd certainly like to be at convention to do it!

Is the Big Shot all metal where you run the dies through? Or plastic? I am tired of my cuttlebug plates breaking and was wondering if it is more sturdy...

Is the bag the only difference between the two offers on the big shot? I too have a cricut and a cuddlebug. Oh the decisions we have to make!

I believe the Big Shot is also plastic like the cuttlebug.

The Wizard by Spellbinders is Metal.

Shoot I missed that function - love it on my CB. That may be what keeps me away. Sizzix website shows the dimensions at 14 1/4 x 8 1/2 x 6 1/2. So I'm assuming that's 14 long, 8 wide and 6 high? Is that right?

Alicia - I just printed out the spreadsheet you created for the "sandwich" recipes. I have never owned a die-cut/emboss machine, but plan on getting the Big Shot package from SU. Thanks for taking the time to do this - I know I am ready now to try it out!! You Rock!!

OK, like some of you, I'm having trouble comparing. Will the XL Bigz work on the BigKick? I love my BigKick, but I'm always tempted by new things. I have a stamp club and a scrapping club and members in both groups already have die cutters. Will my BigKick do everything the BigShot will do? I'm still not ready to otally give up my Coluzzels -- I think I want it all!

Hi. The BigKick and the BigShot are the same thing. The BigKick is made by sizzix and the BigShot was originally made by Ellison. Sizzix was a part of Ellison. Now they just go by Sizzix but still make both machines. So yes the two machines do the exact same thing. I have the BigShot already and love it. I will use the one that I have in workshops because I can not afford to buy another one at $99-$199. I got my BigShot at Christmas time on there website for $49, at that was for a starter kit with all the works. I could not pass that up!

I don't have a cricut or a BS (yet) but I have Coluzzles. I think what is important is too look at what tools we need, why we need them, and our budget.

I never bought sizzix stuff before, because I can't bear the cost of each alphabet. So I went with Coluzzle. Alphabets are really cheap (compare under $25 and around $125) I want a diversity of alphabets cheap, so Coluzzle was for me.

As a demo, if I want to show people about cutting circles for layering, I would need to use a Coluzzle, because there isn't a BS die for that from SU.

But, for personal use, it looks like the Nestabilities will work with the BS, but its not a SU thing, so I can't demo it.

So, as a demo, I will keep my Coluzzle, but I will use it for personal use for the non-SU alphabets.

Just figure what you would use that tool for, which tool is better for those jobs, and which meets your budget better.

I hope that answers your question.

This is my thought process on it anyway, someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I have a couple of the Bigz dies, not the XL ones and they work perfectly in my bug.

Joan B just posted this blog on another thread - you apparently CAN use the XL dies in the Cuttlebug - so exciting!!!!

Couldn't I buy the extended platform for the Big Shot and use it in my Cuttlebug with the XL plates?

I agree, we should represent SU when we can. But SU does this big "secret" thing, with the catalog (we get it very last minute, sometimes AFTER last minute), new stamps, new accessories. It sure is hard to plan, including planning our own purchases, when we are kept in the dark. I bought a Cuttlebug this last year after delaying for months. I absolutely love it. Had I known this was in play, I wouldn't have bought it, I would have waited for SU.

I understand they can't let us in on all the potential stuff before its a sure thing, but it seems SU is slow to catch up with some of the trends and some of us are already out of the gate with other products by the time they catch up.

My thoughts exactly! If I didn't already own a Cuttlebug, I would probably buy the BigShot. But now I can spend the money on dies, and stamps, and paper.

I was wondering the same thing. I think the blog said that the plates were a tad too wide but that the die went thru. If this is the case maybe I could take a dremel tool to the plates or even got to lowes or home depot and have them cut me a set of plates that would fit if they have the acrylic that think. I would prefer the buy and trim method though I think. I am hoping some inventive person out there figures this out better than me. I love the xl basket die but do I love it enough to spend about $170 for the machine, crease pad, extender plates and die? Hmmm not really sure on that one.

Well, I bought the extended plates and the crease pad for the Big Shot at Michael's several months ago, thinking I would try out a long die, but just never got around to getting the die itself! Guess I have incentive to try now, eh?

NO - the Bigz dies are just a little too wide to work with the original Sizzix Machine.

Any die that Sizzix has ever made will work with the Big Shot. A lot of competitor dies will work with it too.

I'm selling my original Sizzix and Sidekick and getting the SU Big Shot. I'm not sure if I'll keep my Cuttlebug or not. I've heard that it does a better job embossing than the Big Shot, but haven't tried it to know for sure.

I have the red, original Sizzix machine. Will these SU bigz die's fit in my machine or will I have to get the new one? Thanks. Jennie

The Big Shot comes with instructions attached to one of the board thingys (sorry for the technical term -- I don't know what it's called), but it comes with the machine. You have to use either the #1 or #2 setting (I can't remember), but it's very clear in the instructions.

Honestly, the SU Big Shot is the EXACT same machine as the regular Big Shot except the logo is different. If it were me, I would just keep the one you have and mention you got it before SU offered it. I have done that before with some Fiskars products I had before they were in the catalog. Customers still ordered them from me. We're going to make our money off the SU exclusive dies, not the machines anyway. Any 'smart' customer will know they can get a similar product with a coupon at the craft store. So while I am all for using SU stuff, if it's the same thing (I'm talking tools here) and I had it before SU came out with it, I'll use the one I have.

Afterall, it's unlikely that you'll actually take the Big Shot machine itself with you to a workshop. Instead you'll probably take the precut pieces and maybe the die to show what it looks like.

Just my two cents worth!

I agree with you Sarah. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to convince my customers to buy the Big Shot from SU but I prefer to demo with only SU products when I can. I will buy the exclusive dies and to be honest I'm not a pink person so the all black SU one appeals to me much more.

I'm listing mine in the BST forums so I'm hoping can sell it.

Default Wizard, Brass and Quickutz

Hey, does anyone know more about:

1. The Wizard? I have one and wonder if the SU dies will work in the Wizard.

2. Has anyone used our brass stencils in their CB or BS? They don't usually turn out so well in my Wizard.

3. Do you think that we can use the Quickutz dies in the BS? I've tried the Sizzlits and Quickutz dies are a little bit more difficult to get the images with my Wizzard.

I'm a humble hobby demo, so I don't know a whole lot about all of the machines. I'd like to get a machine that will be universal! My husband is a computer engineer- he's done a lot to help me figure out the sandwiches!

I have the Cuttlebug and love it, too, but I was still thinking of getting the Big Shot to demo and offering a discount on it if they buy the dies or the other way around. My way of thinking is everytime I show something, they buy it, and with a discount they might purchase it and then some of the die cuts, you know how us ladies like "a sale". What do think, is it a good idea or a dumb one???? PLus SU had a list of 50 things this baby can cut, not too shabby......

SU classy brass templates will work in the CB and BS as well!

I got this from Ellen Hutson's Blog http://ellenhutson.typepad.com/ellen...bug_wizar.html
This is the cuttlebug receipe

*you'll need the spellbinders charm embossing kit
Position your sandwich (a) spacer, brass stencil, paper, tan Wizard pad, black Wizard pad, chipboard shim, (b) cutting pad.

For the Big Shot

Mutipurpose Platform Tab 1
Acrylic Pad
Metal Stencil
Cardstock
Silicone Rubber * included in Texturz Starter Kit
Impressions Pad * included in Texturz Starter Kit
Roll through Big Shot

The Texturz Silicone Rubber Pad and Impressions Pad are sold separately now so you don't have to get the kit to get the pads.
