Default Can I use a Cuttlebug "C" plate in my Vagabond?

My Vagabond came today and I am not wanting to do anything to break it. I am using a wafer thin die and the provided plates are not thick enough. I shimmed it with cardstock but it didn't cut. I decided to try my Cuttlebug "C" instead of one of the provided plates. I did check that it was not too thick by using the keys that were included (thickness gauges).

It seemed a bit tight and made a popping sound but that was probably just the die cutting into the plate.

What say the experts? Is the "C" plate okay or just a hair too thick?

Thank you,
Barbara

If it went through with just the typical popping/cracking, it must be okay. I would use the gauge keys if I wasn't sure. Weight of the card stock could also make a difference.

I have a Vagabond and Big Shot. I bought 2 Spellbinders M-Bossabilities and couldn't get the usual embossing sandwich to go through (no tabs, cutting plate, EB with c/s, cutting plate). I made up my own sandwich which worked for me (no tabs, EB with c/s, CB 'C' plate). My first die cutting machine was a CB and I still have it and its plates so I see no reason not to use what I have with my Vagabond as long as it will go through.

Barbara, the "Solo Thin Die Adapter" by Sizzix is needed to cut wafer thin dies using the cutting plates that come with the Vagabond. Well, at least that is the recommended product. After spending the amount of money I did for the Vagabond I didn't want to risk using anything else and having my Vagabond jam or break. I also own a Cuttlebug so I have all the CB plates and I'm sure various combos can be used but too risky for me.

Just be careful. The machine is expensive and electronic and I watched a lot of the videos and Tim Holtz is always stressing to use the correct plates and sandwhiches. Not to try and make your own for the movers and shapers die to work etc. etc. I did invest in the thin die adapter, and they cut like a dream now, and no worries. If it works for you, I am glad. I am just too much of a worrier to break that machine (hubby will not want me to buy another one....)

Thank you everyone for your input. I sent my husband to the local scrapbook store this morning because he was in the area and they indeed had the proper plate. Problem solved. :-)

The one thing that I did notice about the "C" plate was that it is not as wide as the Vagabond plates (because the cutting width of the Cuttlebug is smaller) so I would be concerned about shifting from side to side. I am happy to not have to use the wrong plate and risk damage to the Vagabond.
