Default chipboard,** Another question**

Where do I find it? I went to Michaels and asked, and they looked at me like I was from Mars. Is there another name for it? Can you find it a Walmart?

**how do you cut your chipboard? Do you use the SU paper trimmer, scissors, something else? I've never used it, and I don't want to ruin my cutter, but I want it to be straight, KWIM?

Chipboard is like the board that is on the back of a pad of paper. I have found it at paper supply houses but not other places. If you don't need too much, just rub the back of those yellow legal pads!

It's VERY popular in scrapbooking right now. I'd visit your local scrapbooking store. I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Not for nothing, but I once asked about acetate at Michael's and got that "are you from Mars look." I think I've seen it somewhere that isn't a dedicated scrapbooking store. If I remember, I'll post again.

If you have a group that you could split them with, here is a link the the cheapest place I have found to order them but it is a big quantity.

http://www.uline.com/Browse_Listing_1852.asp

If you want in smaller quantity, I would think Office Max, Staples, Office Depot or other office supply stores would sell them. I know someone said they have bought them from Viking.

I've purchased it from Viking. It is $7.99 for 50 sheets. If you order 3 or more packages, the price goes down to $5.99 per pack.

Here's the link:

Default Chipboard

I bought some chipboard at Office Depot a couple of months ago. I bought 2 different packs - one had 10 in it and the other had 50. They were both under $10 for the packs. The one with 10 was much thicker which I thought I might like better but I haven't used either one yet.

Dawn, I have a fiskars rotary cutter (the big flat one) that I use for my paper that I also use for my chipboard.

I bought chipboard at the local printers. (Small town printer - we don't have any chain stores around here.) They sold it to me for $.05/sheet. Can't beat that!

I use my good ol' Fiskars cutter - when my blade starts to dull and I don't get a clean edge anymore, I write a "C" on the blade cartridge with a Sharpie, and that becomes my cardboard/chipboard cutter. I usually make a few passes and do a final trim with scissors...probably not the most efficient method, but at least I'm not ruining my good blades!

Office Depot sells it to me for 5 cents a sheet (8 1/2 X 11). I buy it all the time.

Ask at the copy center.

The reason I am looking for chipboard, is those awesome fantasy boxes that have been uploaded to the gallery. We had one demonstrated at our meeting, and now I'm hooked! I cut up a shoe box to make my first one, but I thought maybe chipboard would be a little easier to work with! LOL

Dawn.

I was just able to buy some from the copy center at Office Depot for $0.05 a piece. That is a good deal and cheaper than what they sell in packs.

LOL too funny about cutting a shoe box.
