Cleaning Acrylic Blocks

Ok....I'm in the process of um my retired sets. I have used a couple of them but now my blocks are getting sticky (all the glue didn't come off the back of the stamp). What is the safest way to clean them that doesn't effect my stamps. I tried the hot soapy water and goo gone but neither worked. I though about rubbing alcohol but not sure if it would damage my stamps over time. Thanks for your help!

I have always had great sucess with the goo gone so I don't have any other ideas for you. Maybe try it again.

Hand sanitizer works beautifully! Just put some on a rag and wipe your blocks. They'll look like new.

I have had amazing results using a Magic Eraser. I just make sure to wash them with soap and water afterwards. HTH!

Goo gone and "Goof off" both have worked well for me.

I use rubbing alcohol on my acrylic blocks, and sometimes I used plain soap and water. I also clean the blocks and stamps after each use. I'll stamp all of one image, clean the block and stamp, then move on to the next step in the assembly process. Also my unmounted are backed in ez mount so there isn't any or much sticky residue.

I have used lighter fluid. Works beautifully and does not harm the blocks.
I put a little on a cotton ball and wipe away. All of goo is gone and the block is clear as new. You can wash with soap and water if you wish.
I have been doing this for a long time, and have always had great results.

I like the Magic Eraser too. I'm going to have to try the hand sanitizer though - that's sound like a nifty method too!!

Another vote for the Magic Eraser, I LOVE these things, they even take off Staz-On stains!
FYI just don't use anything with alcohol on your blocks (this includes Staz-On cleaner) over time it can cause cracks in your blocks!!

I just cleaned a block with Magic Eraser and my block looks all crackled. Is there more than one Magic Eraser? I assumed it was the Mr. Clean kind you buy at the grocery store.

I've always used my Stampin' Mist or Simple Green....maybe I'll try the hand sanitizer. Thanks!

If you're concerned about using alcohol on your stamps or blocks, you should read the ingredients in hand sanitizer. They usually contain alcohol. That's what kills the germs.

Great tips! I always use one of those fabric thingys that come with sunglasses.
