Hello,
Has anyone combined all their brads in one container and eyelets in another container? I'm trying to decide if this is a pain or if frees up space.
I am thinking of combining all my brads (of many colors) into one container and doing the same with my eyelets in another container. Right now each color is in a separate container. I can't decide if combining all my brads in one container and all my eyelets in another container will be a pain or not. I think it will free up space. I wanted to know if anyone else has combined similar products like this and if they wish they would have left them in individual containers by colors. My craft space was a lot larger and we downsized so now I'm looking to make space and combine similar products.
I tried having all of the colors together by type (brad, eyelet, whatever) and it was a nightmare (for me). I do much better having all of the things of the same color together. The photo shows what I'm currently using. Each container has all of the small items of that color: brads, eyelets, safety pins, spiral clips, mini library clips, etc. The containers themselves are part of this item: https://www.harborfreight.com/24-con...box-90243.html
I don't have the small boxes inside the larger one, though. I have a tall drawer unit from Hobby Lobby that has 18 drawers that are just over 1" deep, so I have all of my embellishments in two of those drawers. I typically dump out the container and sift through the contents to select what I want to use, as I've found that sometimes I'll think I want one thing (like an eyelet) and then see a spiral clip or photo turn and change my mind. So far I haven't felt any need to change it up, and I've had this system for about a decade now.

Years ago my brads went into a pint mason jar and my eyelets (all sizes & shapes) into a half-pint mason jar and they are easily visible on a shelf above my desk. I dump them into an embossing tray (with spout) for sorting. Eyelets pour easily back into their jar, but brads are not shaped right so I pour them back from a corner of the tray. Hope this helps!

I have mine separated, then separated by color (or close). I'm in the middle of moving my craft room to a different room. I may put all brads together, all eyelets together...anything to help save space.
I keep all like embellishments separate and separated by color as well. I was "gifted" a huge jar of mixed brads one time and found it so time consuming to dump them out and sort through to find what I wanted, that I divided them up and put them in separate containers. I use the same kind of containers for both. Got them at Joann's years ago when such things were really popular.

I have my brads and eyelets micro-organised. I have them in weekly pillsorters, the ones with 4 compartments per day. Each compartment has a particular colour/design in.
My brads are combined with no color separation and my eyelets are combined with no color separation. Both are in tackle boxes. I like rummaging through my craft supplies to see what fun surprises pop up, so other than cardstock, my organization of everything is pretty loose.
I keep my brads and eyelets in a container I got from Oriental Trading Company over 15 years ago. They are shaped like TicTac containers. I separate them by color and shape (meaning I have one box that is exclusively shaped brads). If I don't separate them, I spend a lot of wasted time searching for the right color in a sea of colors. I also like that I can click open the top and the slot available means it is easy to just pour out the amount I need. I've seen these type of containers for diamond painting.
