Default Copic Colorless Blending Solution?

Has anyone tried refilling their colorless blender with something besides the Copic colorless blending solution? Would regular rubbing alcohol work? What about the adirondack alcohol ink blending solution? Is it the same thing? Or does Hobby Lobby carry the Copic blending solution? My blender is already completely dry. I'm placing an order today for 12 more markers, with free shipping, but if you add other additional items to the order, they charge you shipping, so I'm hoping to avoid that. Thanks!

I haven't tried it and I probably wouldn't. The refill bottle is way bigger than the ink refills and lasts a LONG time, plus you can use it in other ways too. You can create a really cool texture by sponging it over an already colored area with an old cloth.

Who are you ordering from? If it's Carpe Diem, I heard if you have $50 worth of Copic Sketch, they will ship additional items for free. I might be wrong..but I would check with them.

And I wouldn't use anything else in my Copic blender...it's not worth it. I would sooner add another sketch blender to the order if you can't get free shipping by adding the refill.

I'm ordering Ciaos from copicmarkers.com. I put the blending solution in my cart and the shipping for it was $4.60. Now way I'm paying almost $15 for that stuff. I may just get another blender like Cher suggested.

The 25cc bottle of colorless blender costs about $6.00, and you can refill you Ciao marker 14-15 times with it, so getting a new marker instead of that bottle is kind of a waste.

The 200cc is the one that cost about $13.00, and unless you want to create effects, it's not needed for most users.

As for adding another type of liquid on your colorless blender. The alcohol used by copic is different from the other markers, and there are other elements on the Colorless ink. Using other blenders/alcohol will result on different/un-expected results.

Do you know what alcohol is in the copic colorless blender? Is it ethanol instead of rubbing alcohol?

Thanks! I ordered the smaller refill. I didn't realize they made a smaller one. I decided to order at Carpediem since their prices are still cheap, and they had everything I wanted in stock so got a little more that I planned . 13 sketches so I could get the free shipping, 10 ciaos and the refill! I thought it would be a good idea to get some of the colors I've been wanting in that aren't available in Ciao while I could get them for $3.95. By the way, Cher, you are correct that any additional items ship free after $50 in sketches. I sent them an email last night to double check. I also asked when the prices are going up and they said "Our price will be as is until we're out of inventory!". I wonder if that means they aren't going to be selling them anymore?

My blender pen went dry recently and thought i would give plain old rubbing alcohol a try and it worked great. I didn't refill my pen though, all i did was put some of the alcohol into a little cup and dipped the end of my pen into it
They card still looks great and I can't tell any difference from using the original blender.

Thanks Diana! That's good to know! I ordered the refill, but I'll give alcohol a try while I'm waiting for it to come!

I think they just mean whatever they have in stock now. When they re-order more, then they'll have to sale those at the new price.
