Wendy in the Touch Twin Marker Sets A and B did you get colors for the skin and hair?
Yes, there are plenty of cream/peach/pinks/yellows/browns etc.....
I carefully looked through both sets and really cant find where there is anything lacking.
There are also light pastel colors included. several Greys.
There is a color chart posted there, but depending on your monitor the shades may be different. I would make one and post it, but not sure between scanning & monitor resolution if it would be accurate??
Thanks Dina and Wendy for answering. I looked and looked and then caved and bought the 162 pack. Now to wait for them to get to my house. That was the best price and selection around. Thanks for posting the links.
My markers came in today. YEAH!!! I have the color combinations that you girls listed on the other thread but was wondering if there was anymore combinations out there. I have searched the internet but mostly all I could find was info on Copics and yes I understand that I can use the copic information but sometimes when you are just starting out it is easier to have a few guidelines and color combinations to get ya started.
I have been looking the touch markers..but does anyone know where you get the ink refills and nib replacements for them? I can't find then anywhere...If I can they look like a great markers..much cheaper than Copics..

Last I heard the new markers would beat the nib replacements and refills to the stores by a month or two. The new markers are just starting to show up in stores, so I'm guessing a month or two from now.

If only I could get my Copics for that kinda price... colouryourdesign.com is about the cheapest place I could find them.......4 bucks for each marker.. and its still killing me
Hey Dini..or Michelle can you tell me if these blend as well as copics? I see in the copic stuff..that you can "scribble" off the ink from blending..does this work with the touch markers? Not sure if that made any sense at all but I think I worded it right HAHA.
Yes they do. The blending is a feature of alcohol based inks and isn't just a "Copic" thing. I regularly use and blend my Touch markers with my Copics, Dick Blick brand, Pro Markers and Tria Markers. I also don't use a blending pen, I just use the lighter colors over the darker and such, until I get what I want. The only problem I have had is some Copics are splotchier then my Touch markers, which can leave an undesirable effect. Or you can use a blender or even a vey light color to remove a darker color. But with all alcohol marks, don't overwork the area or it can become a mess. (don't ask how I know, haha).
Copic has been around for about 30 years.. Solid company with a proven product. I am sticking to my Copics... You might check if they are really compatible. I would not want to ruin my copics by "mixing" them... I wonder if the touch have resin in them.. Copics do not whereas the Tim Holtz markers do. Hmmmmm.

just checked them out... I cannot feather with the nib of the Touch marker..... eeew... my coloring style requires feathering for that nice perfect blend.. I cannot get that with the Touch marker. I totally love the brush nib on the copic sketch and ciao.

That is a good idea contacting ShinHan to see if I can get some directly from them
Shinhan has been around for a long time in Europe and Asia and have a very good rep, they just haven,t been marketed in America. A friend in Germany was telling me about some weird "artist tax" in Germany which is effectively closing out the Copics there because of Copics high price (which they just increased) so Touch markers are quickly becoming the preferred artist marker. Which is why there are Touch knock-offs, which are very poor quality (Noir Spectrum).
Shin Han does not have resin in them, if they where subpar, they wouldn't be an artist level marker.
They can safely be used with Copics or another way of saying it is that Copics can be safely used with Shinhan Touch and won't ruin your Touch markers or your Copics. Even the Copic website says Copics can be used with other alcohol markers, but they don't recommend it (no manufacture would recommend using other brand markers, they don't want to send business to competitors. This is purely marketing)
I personally Feather just fine with both the bullet and the chisel nibs, it's just a matter of personal preference and technique. It's what I learned on so it's normal to me and Touch now has brush nibs for those who prefer them. I really would like to try Touch Brush!
I have over 50 Copics caios and all of the Touch colors. It's wonderful if someone is happy with their Copics and I don't see anyone here trying to dissuade using Copics. And i would hope people would not try to dissuade someone from using Touch markers just because they personally like Copics better. Believe it or not, I have had some very inappropriate emails from Copic purist on this forum for no other reason except that I like Touch better. Who would have thought?
It's just really awesome that there are other, more affordable and high artist quality alternatives.
I'd have thought it Michelle, I had more than a few of those and a whole hate thread on a CC fan page on facebook when I dared to tell a uk forum that Spectrum Noirs are a cheap unauthorised copy of the touch markers. I did laugh at the hate thread though, all it did was publicise that the spectrums arent as unique as they say on tv.
Shinhan Art Materials have been around since the 1960's. They carry a wide variety of paints and other art products. Their first markers came out in 1992. They are not a new company, just more known in the illustration world than the stamping/ papercrafting world.
Shinhan just released their newly designed Touch Twin Brush markers (so they do have a brush style now). I've been playing with mine for a couple weeks and they blend beautifully with each other and every other marker I've tested with them.

Hi Becky,
I purchased some of the older style from assorted places (Carpe Diem, Amazon and I think Dick Blick) months ago. The newer style markers are just now getting into stores.
I now work for Shinhan so I got my new set of markers to test before they went into customers hands.

Here is a visual of the Shinhan marker nibs - the 2 markers on the top are the older style markers that you may still find at closeout prices as stores make room for the new-and-improved models. The bottom 2 markers are the newly designed Touch Twin (black) and Brush Twin (white) markers.
Here is another angle to show the redesigned marker barrel - the marker on the left is the new design (slimmer, more ergonomic) - the older model is more squared and bigger around.
I have the older style but I was wondering about the new brush twin marker. I have a hard time getting into the tiny areas with the bullet tip on the older style and was wanting to buy a couple of the new style brush marker to see if it helps me get into the tiny spots easier.
Thanks Jeanne for letting me know about the new markers. Lucky girl you.
I love the touch markers (well the little bit that I have got to play with them. I must say that blending is a technique of its own and that paper plays a big part in how easily the alcohol markers blend (Copic or Shinhan Touch). I was having trouble with my Warm Gray WG8 pulling the color away when I would try to blend tonight. I am not sure if it is my paper or just a contrary night. I will try again tomorrow night.
Dini thanks for the pictures of the new markers barrel. I really like the looks of the new markers but I just got the older style so until they dry up I shall play oops create with them.
oh one more question, On a couple of my projects, when I have colored with the Touch Markers, it has left a shine in certain areas, is this because I am going over the area too many times or if I do not let it dry well in between coats could that cause the shine sheen to the image? It is almost like I am getting too much ink on the paper so it beads up and leaves this shine. Clear as mudd?????
I started off with the Georgia Pacific because others said it was a cheap paper to practice with but I did not like the blending I would get with it. So then I ordered some copic paper but I still did not like the blending I was getting with it or maybe I should say mottling of certain colors I would get on it. So I then read that some of the girls were having really good luck with the Hammermill Color Copy Cardstock 80 lb. I really like the way it blends but it I tend to go over the hair several times on my images, I will get the shine sheen to it. I also notice this more often on the darker browns and the blacks or darker grays. I am wondering if because my markers are so new and moist they could be laying down alot of ink so it pools? Thanks for answering a newbies questions

I don't think it is your Touch Markers since I have the same problem with dark Copic markers such as C07-C09-R29. I think it is a quirk of alcohol markers in darker colors.
If you are not familiar with the numbering system of Copics the C's I am referring to are dark cool grey and R29 is dark red.
Sometimes I blend a dark color out too much and need to re-darken it. I must wait until it is "completely dry" before I lay down more dark color, over a previously colored area or it will either streak or pool on the top and dry shiny
Just because it looks dry doesn't mean it is dry. I wait 10 minutes before I add more dark color. I can still blend around the edge of the added dark color .
With other colors I can go back over an area before it is completely dry, but not with the very dark colors
I use Neenah Classic Crest super smooth with great success using 99% of my markers so I don't think it is my paper.

My guess about the shine is mostly due to the paper, also. I tested several types of papers/card stock and found that what works best for me is smooth Bristol, which is a readily available heavy art paper. The alcohol inks are transparent so when they wet the paper or card stock, the fibers or substrate of the papers can show through the ink. I found that some papers have a shine almost like mica flakes, which can be a cool effect if that is what you are specifically going for but can be distracting if it is not what you are going for.
Thanks Dini, for posting the pics of the new markers! Carpe Diem apparently doesn't shop to Alaska because they won't answer several of the emails I have sent requesting shipping costs (just put them in a flat rate priority mail envelope, already!! Haha).
I am hoping I will be able to get the refills too so I can use them in spray bottles and droppers, like Tim H alcohol inks.
Does anyone know if any other stores besides Carpe Diem have the new markers yet!
Can anyone tell me if the colors between the Shinhan and copics are the same? I would like to try to add some colors into my copic collection but if they are similar colors it wouldn't be worth me spending my money on them.

No, the color 'numbers' are not the same. However, you can see the complete color chart here:
I was lucky enough to get to try a couple of the Touch Twin Markers and I have to say that they are really nice. I LOVE the red one I got. I have not seen a truer red anywhere. Just gorgeous. I hope to get more in the future. I also have all of the Copic Sketch and Original Markers and love them too. You can not go wrong either way. Both companies make fabulous markers. In fact, since no two colors are the same, I may, in time, end up with all of them. And no retirement account.

I'm so glad Sabrina (Cook22) alerted me to this thread! I just saw these markers mentioned on a blog that I discovered this morning, and was curious about them, so I asked and got directed here. Great information, ladies - thanks so much!
ASW is having a great sale on markers and sets (not the brush - just the black-barrel ones) through the end of December. Limited colors, but great price - $1.89 for individual markers, $19.99 for the 12-marker sets. Check it out HERE
Hi Sue! Feel free to jump in with any questions you may have. The markers that are on sale (at Jerry's, ASW,) are the older design - you can see the difference between the old and new designs above in post #62 & #63. The new model is refillable with replaceable nibs, and has some other improvements as well.
I've always had good service from ASW! Have fun with your purchase!!
I just read on another thread that Copics will be having another price increase as of Jan. 1. They have now become to costly for me to continue purchasing them, so I'll look into the Touch Twins. I have heard good things about Touch Twin Brush markers. I'll give them a try.
Does anyone know if the touch markers fit like the copics in an air brush system? I wanted to get some copics and the air brush for a Christmas gift but glad I saw this about the touch. I do have the complete set of Blick markers already and have used so much some of the colors need to be replaced.
