I'll be coming to California next week and wanted to get organised and hopefully stock up on lots of craft supplies while I'm there, so where should I look for money off vouchers for Michaels and Joann's (and anywhere else you can think of) before I go please, and while I'm there?
Also any suggestions where I should shop for the best deals in Los Angeles and San Diego. We'll have a hired car so would be willing to travel around.
Will be looking for gorgeous ribbons, prima flowers, brads, flat backed pearls and gems, backing paper probably just about anything and everything lol.
Would be really grateful for any tips and hints from locals.
Los Angeles area probably a Michaels. I just found out there is a LSS in Cerritos but havent gone yet.
Sometimes I go to downtown to the fabric section and find good deals on buttons, ribbons, and little flowers.
Okay, this place is a dive and you wouldn't know it exists by the exterior. But, Fabric Barn is awesome. They have rows and rows of ribbon. You can buy it by the yard or spool. It's an old school craft store with all sorts of stuff for crafting. But ribbon is the main thing. http://www.fabricbarn.com/

What a brilliant idea I wouldn't have thought of that. Thank you.
Is that to the shops downtown or is it warehouses/wholesalers?
Thanks so much.
Will definitely be looking for Michaels too. Do you happen to know where I can access their money off coupons please?
yea the shops downtown at the fabric section.
I have found really good prices
and my mom knows of this one where they have discounted items, and I can get lots and lots of buttons for $1 ;)

The only place I know of in Cali. is Wooten's. They are an amazing store. They have locations in Ontario, Ca. in the Mills and in Palm Desert on Hwy. 111. Definitly a store to drop some serious cash in. I know I did
If you're going to be in the San Diego area, definitely go to Cool Scrapbook Stuff in Poway. They've got a huge selection! You won't be disappointed....

Yes, the Wooten's! Jerry & Linda Wooten run the Palm Desert store and their daughter, Tracy, runs the Ontario store. Awesome people!
I used to go there ALL THE TIME with my mom until she passed in 2006...my mom was one of their GREAT CUSTOMERS!!! (Ca-Ching! Ca-Ching!) Hence, I've accumulated tons from my mom, so I've only been a couple of times since (to both stores). If you see Jerry, Linda or Tracy...they will certainly remember my mom (Joan Cochran from Apple Valley)...Tell them Hello from Kay, Joan's daughter!
Oh, I need to go visit them...
Have fun! They don't have tons of stamps, but they have tons of everything else!
How long will you be here, because there is a stamp convention going on in Carson, not far from LA. Have to find my card with date... with vendors and good deals from all over the US including Hawaii...my favorite paper vendor is from Hawaii
www.scrapbooking.com
list stores by states. always wise to call first.
as for coupons visit their website-check if they have any speicals.
i always check the phone book at the hotel.
craft/stamp stores.
then i check out 2nd hand stores. many people are selling their stamps. and better yet the containers, shelves, etc.
if you are a member of AAA. check w/ your office. mine will email me a list of happenings.
just give them the dates, locations. i also tell them how far i would like to travel.
50 - 100 mile radius.
I figure most people who replied in this thread live in the LA County area. This might be of interest if you don't already know about it.
The Original Rubber Stamp Convention is in carson, July 11, 12 and is an all day event. It is a great event, I usually go to get rubberstamp supplies and mount my own stamps. Love it!! and some great paper vendors are always there with some great prices and deals.
The Carson Community Center 3 Civic Plaza Drive, Carson CA 90745, I know the 405 is close to this addy. Doors open at 9:00A Sat, and 10A Sun, and there is always a long line, and people are very nice, in fact there are often people trading ATC, and such in line even before the doors open. It is great fun. In the years I have been going, (4 ro 5) I have never been disappointed with the event. Oh and they have all day drawings, so keep ticket handy and check the board all day! If you go, you will have fun. And try to sign up for some make and take classes, and check out the mini lectures, great way to see new products from vendors.
Go to this link and check out the postcard they mail out. Click on the Summer RSC link...it shows good list of vendors who will be there, along with ticket info.
In terms of money off coupons...the "announcement" section of SCS always has links to coupons that you can print off. Many times they dont get posted until Sat or Sun for the following week. If you will have access to a computer, you can check out the thread and print some off. If you don't see any...just post a thread asking for discount coupons for JoAnns and Michaels.
The thing to remember is that you want to print them so you can use 1 JoAnns and 1 Michaels coupon for EACH purchase at EACH store as they will take competitors coupons and you can often use "multiple" coupons but they cannot be the same copon.
Also...if you are staying in a hotel...check out the Sunday paper as they sometimes have "ads" with coupons in the paper.
