i stick to the stores, however you can buy them from provocraft, and the cheaper ones are the ones with out the case and book, if you watch the store adds you can get them just as cheap and dont have to worry about shipping and dealing with sites

To the best of my knowledge, the only cartridges that don't come with a booklet and box are the Solutions cartridges. They are the cartridges that only have 50 images on them and usually only one special feature to use. The other cartridges all come with a booklet (in several languages) and the hard box.
The Solutions cartridges are about 1/2 the price of the retail of the full cartridges.
I prefer to purchase my cartridges in a store. Saves postage, time and if anything is defective, I can return it promptly to the store for an exact exchange.
A friend of mine highly recommends http://www.customcrops.com (she's a regular shopper there). I purchased a couple cartridges from them today during their sale for $29.99 each.
I wish I could just buy them at stores, but i hardly find anything I like. Hobby Lobby is probably the only one that has more of a selection of font cartridges than shapes, but like all brick & mortars, their prices are higher.
I actually have purchased pooh and friends off ebay for 22 something and shipping was 5.50. It was a buy it now. Most of my cart. I have purchased off ebay. Now I only buy from people located in United States and must have a 99 or 100 rating. So far 6 cart later still very happy crafter
Oh My Crafts has been a good source for me. They have a sale right now and an additional 16% off or I believe there's free shipping/ (one or the other, but not both), but you'll want to hurry, I think the sale is only for 2 days. I also like Creative express...they are also having a pretty good cart sale as well as a few other things.
I am also happy with CustomCrops.com - good communication (one item was backordered) and very quick shipping. I did buy the Cars cartridge from Michael's on Black Friday as well
I have had AWESOME luck on EBAY. I got the Storybook for $26.99 plus $4.95 for shipping...an awesome deal. I purchase lot of cartridges there for less than $30.00 each. Sometimes they even have free shipping. I do notice right now that a lot of them are going for more, I think for Christmas there are more bidders...just my guess.
