I got an email from Michael's, this morning, that they have a temporary price cut on the Cricut machines...so low that they weren't able to print it. I'm only passing on what was in the email. I have no further details. Just thought someone may be able to take advantage.
Just shows how much the mark up is on these things huh? If they can still make a profit at $189 when they were selling them at $299 before?!?!?! Just insane.
Although they might not be making any profit at all. The may be taking a loss on the machines and making it up in the price of the cartridges. I mean can a simple font in a simple program REALLY be worth $90??? Makes one wonder.
They're taking a loss, I'm pretty sure...I just can't figure out if it's volume (to get a lower price) or if there's something that's going to replace it...hmmmmmmm
They are at Walmarts for $194 now. Along with the carts. for cheaper also.
I noticed them for the first time in our Walmart also...did not catch the price. Their $89 font cartridges just did not appeal to me...so have not paid much attention to the cricut. I'm still thinking it seems funny that the name is cricket and cry cut. ;)

I saw it at walmart last night for $179. I'm sure they're still mamking a profit! when they could accept coupons on them they were still making a profit at 40% and 50% off. I know the're all nifty and all, but they certainly don't take than many $$ worth of man power and materials to produce. the only big cost to Provo Craft is in development. I'm quite sure that production is the cheapest phase of getting this thing on the shelves. anyway just my 2cents.

Well I was thinking of the Playstations and X Boxes, they do NOT make a profit on the consoles, just the games. I thought it was most likely something similar.
Sadly enough my Wal-Mart isn't carrying the Cricut at this time. BUT DH did good.....CHRISTMAS came early. He was unloading at Micheals in TX and he was talking to the store manager and he was able to get me one for $199.99! and that was before they put it on an unadvertised sale....so I will be playing tonight.
