I have the big one that is in the Stampin' UP! catalog. I got this when I first signed up and that was two or three years ago and it's still just as great and I used it all the time.. the grid paper is great too!

I have the Perfect Layers cutting mat (QVC) and I really like it. It has the grid lines and also comes with the craft knife. There's a new magnetic one by Basic Grey (QVC sells that one too), I haven't used it, but the reviews are really good.
is it gud to use..???
Is it too heavy...can sumone get it in suitcase..???

I want to buy one cutting mat...which one is the best one to take..!!

Best selection of cutting mats is found in a fabric store or department...with the quilting stuff. All sizes, colors, plain an gridded...there's even one that be rolled up for transport or storage.
And nothing (absolutely nothing!) beats a rotary cutter and ruler for accurate cutting...I cut everything from wrapping tissue to metal sheeting with my rotaries. Don't get a 'paper' blade...fabric blades are sharper and last forever.
I have a cutting mat made by OLFA that I use with my rotary cutter (can be bought in any sewing department), then I have the 1-2-3D Crafting System by EK Success which has one side for cutting and the other for scoring. But I almost always end up using my glass mat, also by EK Success. Like jenrn said... your knife will never get caught in the mat and I always end up with a very clean cut.
I have the Basic Grey magnetic one. The ruler is a magnet so you don't have to worry about it moving while you are cutting. Also, it's larger than 12x12 so there's plenty of work space. And it comes with a set of small magnets so you can keep all those small piece on your layout without losing them. I have two for when I scrapbook double layouts.

I recently purchased the new one Close to My Heart introduced in their Fall/Winter Collection and it is awesome. It is 12X12 and has the grids. It is double sided, the back side is cushioned for stamping, and is also great for using with a piercing tool. This one works for everything. You can set eylets and conchos on it, scrap on it, and stamp on it. It was a great investment for me.:p
You can not get prices from Michaels unless you are looking for something specific that is in their online sales flyer. It is not an online store like Joann.com.
I've checked the Close to my heart catalog and their cutting mat is 13"x13" and has a 12"x12" grid. They charge $ 14.50. You cannot just order from them you need to contact a demostrator.
Are they good enuf to buy from them..I dont want so much expensive cutting mats..
I just wnat that it serves my purpose to cut the cardstock correctly & in straight line..
Will it serve my purpose..I'll use my cutting blade..but atleast they'll *** accurate..tell me if u know any more cheaper mats site..which are good to use..!!

I've just checked the Close to my Heart catalog for you and they have a 13"x13" cutting mat in there that has a 12"x12" grid. They ask $ 14.50 but you cannot buy online either. You have to contact a demostrator. It's an Angel Company just like SU.
Just a question Shivani, why are you not getting a paper cutter with scoring blade? I would say it would help you with your cards. Joann.com has the Fiskar ones that come with cutting and scoring blade and they ar not bulky at all.
It really depends on what you plan on cutting. I only use my mat to crop photos and cut layers so a smaller mat works great for me. If you plan on using it to cut 12x12 cardstock, you may opt for the larger mat.
But I do agree with okimom2girlz with getting a paper trimmer with a scoring blade instead. I use that for mostly everything, and only whip out the mat and blade on rare occasions.
It's true that a paper trimmer is easier to use, Shivani, but you must consider if you'll be able to get refill blades for it once you are home. If getting replacement blades will be difficult, a trimmer is a waste of money. It may be much easier and cheaper to get craft-knife type blades at home.
As for cutting mats, I'd choose the 12" x 18" size, if I were to purchase from the link you posted for Jerry's Artarama. You"ll be able to cut just about anything on it, and it will also provide a nice work-surface for when you are stamping. If it should warp a little in your suitcase and refuse to lie flat after you get home, don't worry, just place the mat on a flat surface in a very warm place - like in the back window of a car or in the sunshine for a while. It will flatten nicely.
Good luck in your shopping!

If you have a quilting store in your area that would be a good place to look for a variety of sizes of cutting mats. Being a quilter I have them all. If you want one to take to classes by the size that will fit into your bag. I use my mats as working surfaces as well as to cut with. Olfa rotary cutting mats (self sealing) are really good. They are green, though, but I don't find that a problem. They have a very smooth surface and last forever. Some general sewing self healing mats have a slightly bumpy surface and I don't like that. Good luck.
