Default a cuttlebug ? of a different type

now that you've all had your baby bugs for awhile, and have used, and used, and used them, how have they held up? are they still going strong and steady? any (mechanical) complaints?

Not from me but I've also not forced anything through the machine, even if that was the configuration the instructions recommended.

I haven't had any trouble, but then I mostly emboss with it...and, as was mentioned above, I am chicken when it comes to forcing something through...

I don't have one :( but I do seem to remember a thread where some people had some breakage problems. Hopefully they will chime in to help.

The only breakage problems I have heard of are of the cutting plates. Some of them were defective. I haven't had a problem with mine. I agree with everyone else, if you have a hard time getting it to go through the machine back it up, re arrange on your plates and go again. There is a problem however with the red tag sale alphabet! The big letter c is flat on top. They are aware of the problem now and are working to correct it. I wouldn't purchase that alphabet until it is worked out. I love my "bug" It is so cute! HTH!

I've had mine about a month. I broke a b plate but it was my fault. I ran a sizzix embossing folder through, thought it didn't work, then ran it through again with the wizard charm embossing kit pads. Come to find out it HAD worked the first time around - duh! Love my 'bug!

Just purchased the red tag sale alphabet. Haven't opened it yet. Should
I return it until this is fixed, or was it just some of the sets?

I don't know how many are affected. I got mine about a week before Christmas, but got it for Christmas. I didn't realize it had a problem until I was playing with it after. I don't have a phone right now, so can't call Provocraft. I did email them, but haven't heard back yet. I think they are just replacing that one die.

They called me back and said they were mailing me a new plate with the "c" on it. It's not a horrible defect, just messed up the die on that one. :-) I'd go ahead and open it, then give them a call if your "c" is cut off a bit. They were very nice and just asked for my phone and address.

To answer the original question, I have not had anything break! I have used my bug a ton since Christmas. :-) I think there were 2 or 3 early reports of bugs breaking, but I haven't heard any since. Doncha think we'd have heard a ruckus if people's Christmas bugs were falling apart??? :-)

I think they are a good bet. I picked up an extra set of B plates in case I cracked one, but so far they've been fine. I do hear the random "pop", so I always check the plates for cracks. :-) Some of those "sandwiches" feel very tight, but I agree about rearranging things till they feel right.

Thank you, Cookie! {{{{{{Cookie}}}}}} That's a relief! I had ordered it, unaware of this, and it had just shipped prior to me seeing that info . . . I was so saaaaaaad, cuz I've been VERY anxious, and waiting patiently, to get that particular alpha set.

I hope all I hafta to do is swap out that bad die for a good one, and not send back the whole entire alpha . . . .

Julie,
I,too, have this problem and when I called they said that they were shipping a new one out. When I asked if I would have to return the defective one she said no, that they were aware of the problem and just asked where I had purchased it. So, I have a new one coming here, too.

Default Can Sizzix dies work with the Cuttlebug?

I still can't decide if I will use the Cuttlebug!!!

A couple of questions:
Can the Sizzix dies (not the Sizzlits...the big ones) work with the Cuttlebug or are those Sizzix dies too big?
Will Cuttlebug cut chipboard?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, Sissix Originals do work in the bug! And it cuts chipboard beautifully! I love, love, LOVE my bug! Oh, and nothing is falling off of it!
