Cuttlebug and Plastic Dry Embossing Stencils?

Is is possible to use the thin plastic dry embossing stencils in the cuttlebug? What would be the right sandwich?
I have several dry embossing stencils from years ago that I'd love to use in the CB if I can (many from CTMH).

I have a Big Kick and I haven't been able to get my plastic dry embossing stencils to work in it very well. It does a super faint outline, even when it's shimmed tight, but nothing else. I'm not sure I'll ever really get it to work, so I'm interested in any responses as well.

Yes it is possible, I did one to night. A plate, B plate, stencil, paper, rubber, shims, then b plate run through.
Each cuttlebug will use different shims, mine takes 2 for this, also the quality of paper makes a difference, if I use Georgia Pacific, it comes out light, if I use Gina K luxury white, it comes out more pronounced. To night was the first time I tried it and it I experimented with different weights of paper, and I found Gina K was the best, "so far" Have fun

A light spray of water helps to make the design more pronounced too.

"Rubber" is a spongey mat that's used to help with dry embossing in die cut machines. Mine is made by Spellbinders and you can usually find them wherever Nestabilities dies are sold. Some people have had decent results using a piece of rubber plumbers' gasket from your local hardware or home improvement store.

A shim is just a piece of paper or cardstock added to your sandwich stack to make it a big more "snug" for better cutting or embossing. Experiment with different weights, starting out with lightweight paper and moving up as needed. It's amazing what a difference even a thin piece of paper can make!

Like stamp luvr, I've had good luck using a light spritz of water on the cardstock I'm trying to emboss. Just a light misting will do!

When I first got my Cuttlebug I was trying to emboss with everything I had, just because of the novelty of it. I had pretty good results with some thin brass stencils made by Sizzix that I bought on sale.

I got it out of my system, lol. I decided it was too much trouble to fool with getting the right "stack" of layers to make it work.

Now I just use all my Cuttlebug folders and leave the thinking to Provocraft.

I recently purchased a cuttlebug, and was brave enough to try using the Fiskar embossing plates in it. It does require a bit of shimming to get the pressure right as I felt there was too much 'cracking' when I used my C plate. However, it came out looking great!
