Default Cuttlebug question

Ok-

I have a sizzix machine and all the sudden (today) its starting to do funky things. I can't seem to get the white cutting pad to slide into the machine because it looks like the red base has been smooshed some thus making it hard to push through. I also noticed when I cut, it makes this loud popping noise because the white plate gets pushed to the red base..Anyways, its a MESS and I am not sure if I can fix it by filing/cutting some of the red base away..SOO, which leads me to my next question. If I had to get a new machine, to go with A TON of sizzix dies, would you get the cuttlebug?? I know, I have read a million threads, but I make MASS amounts of cuts for school projects and I don't want to get this machine, if after a few cuts I need to replace the cutting pad. I have used the SAME one that came with my sizzix since I got it. I know there has been trouble with the cutting pads, and since I have a ton of sizzix dies, are they making them better so they don't split/cracK?

Also, does it really do a nice job with the embossing folders? I have a bunch of those, but is there really a difference between that and the sizzix? Thanks

I would buy a new sizzix machine at michaels while they still have them....aren't they 60% off this week? I love my sizzix and I also have the cuttlebug .....but I use it for different things. I use my sizzix all the time with my sizzix dies. I have used the cuttlebug but broke the B plate once already with the thin dies from provo...can't imagine what will happen when I put a sizzix thru it.....Just my thoughts.

If it were me I would get the cuttlebug, but then I have mine and LOVE it! I do more embossing than cutting, but I haven't broken through a plate yet. My friend has cracked one plate, but she watches TV and runs fun foam through making stickers for kids crafts. She got more than her share of cuts out of a plate!

Ok,

I THINK problem solved! I just used a new cutting plate and it didn't stick, no popping noise etc. and it worked! KNOCK ON WOOD! I think after a year, it was time to change the cutting pad..its WORKS! I am still going to sand it down just a bit, or possibly it will smooth/resmash it self down after cutting it but I am happy!..YEAH!
