Default Cuttlebug vs. Big Shot?

I know there are a lot of you here who have both, or have replaced one with the other.
Which do you prefer, and why?
I know the Big Shot is more expensive. Is it worth the extra expense?
Believe it or not, I have NEVER broken down and bought any kind of die cut or embossing system. So I have absolutely no idea about these, or any others.
Thanks so much!

Cuttlebug dies will work in the Big Shot, but the reverse is not always true. If you're only going to buy one, go for the Big Shot as it's the more versatile of the two.

I have the Cuttlebug and love it!!! I bought a Big Kick with a 50% off coupon at Michael's just in case I can't use a die in my Cuttlebug but so far I haven't even opened it. (I also bought it in case I break my Cuttlebug from OVERUSE! Even using the CB with TLC this can happen.-- With the coupon, I paid less than $10 more for the Big Kick.)

I have used Cuttlebug folders & dies, Nesties, Sizzlits and a Sizzix original in my Cuttlebug. You have to use a variation of sandwichs but the Big Kick has the Multiple Purpose Platform that serves the same purpose, I guess. The sandwichs aren't hard to use and they get the job done.

The 'Bug is a good starter tool. I have been papercrafting less than a year. I did research and decided for the price, the Cuttlebug was a perfect starter die cutting machine for me. (I saw cards that listed the Cuttlebug as being used in their creation so 'priced' them and bought mine from Creative Xpress. I bought only the machine so that I could chose the accessories that I wanted for me.)

I even 'sold' my friend on requesting one for a Mother's Day
gift. She loves her machine also. I think we have lots of company!!

I just sold my Cuttlebug so I could buy the Big Shot. I absolutely love it!! It is a much sturdier machine than my Bug. I like that it will cut through lots of different materials, too, and that I can use all different types of dies in it.

I have both and my big shot is my choice! I bought my BS from a demo and couldn't have afforded it otherwise. I love how it embosses, the nesties always come out perfect, and it's a stronger machine.

I have the wizard, and talk about your universal machine. I also have the cuttelbug machine. Love it as well. One thing the Wizard seems to do that I noticed that other machines don't do is "smashing bottlecaps". The wizard smashed the bottlecaps like butter.

I have never used a cuttle bug. I got the old style press machine from Sizzix as a gift years ago and have recently upgraded to the Big Shot. I love it! You can use any die out there on it.

I go for the Big Shot. I have both but with the SU exclusive dies you will need the big shot because it has a bit wider base than the bug!

I bought the Big Kick because I wanted a sturdier machine. Also, it was my first die cut machine, and I didn't want to have to figure out how to make sandwiches and shim stuff to make my dies work. The best part about the Big Kick and Big Shot is the multipurpose platform. It tells you what to do for the type of die/embossing folder you want to use.
The Big Kick (not as pretty as the Big Shot versions) can be bought at Michael's for $50 if you have a 50% coupon. I took my husband along so he could use a coupon on the texture kit (has foam pads for embossing).
Be warned, whatever you choose, you will want more and more dies and embossing folders for it!

Default question.....

I love my cuttlebug because it die cuts and embosses too. Does the Big Shot emboss as well ? Thanks.

"best part about the Big Kick and Big Shot is the multipurpose platform. "

Yep. I totally agree. I never see anyone posting question about how to sandwich certain dies in their BS or BK. It's really fool-proof for ANY die out there. I didn't own the Cuttlebug, but I've seen them at crops and, while they are cute, they aren't as solid/sturdy as the BS. If cute is key for you, then go for the new pink and black BS from SU. The BS is just wonderful!

I just purchased a BigKick after doing research on the different die cut machines for months. With my limited budget I can only get one machine and the BigKick/BigShot is the most versatile. It can do everything any other current machine can do plus it can use the biggest (6 inch wide) dies that no other machines can. I didn't want to buy a machine and then not be able to get a die because my machine was too small. It weighs 13 pounds and has a larger base so it is bigger and a little more to lug around if you plan to take it a lot. I don't so that is not a problem for me.

You can get them with a 50% off coupon at Michael's etc which I understand would be $50 plus tax. I bought mine (a pink one) at the Sizzix outlet on eBay. They are an authorized outlet and you still get the same warranty from Sizzix. I paid $59 plus I got 3 dies and 2 6x6 tablets of ds with it. Shipping was free (a special they are having) and no sales tax. They also have the red one for $69 with extras. I also had to buy a few of their dies also as they have a good selection at great prices.

The BigKick and BigShot are the same machine made in the same factory. The BigKick is sold in stores like Michaels, Hobby Lobby and the BigShot is sold in LSS and SU.

Here are the links if anyone is interested in checking it out. If you end up buying one, tell them Linda Raithel at SCS sent you! LOL (I am not connected with them in any way other than as a new customer!!)

I have the CB and was at my uplines house (i'm a SU demo) and she had the bigshot - there truely is no comparison - i am going to actually order it Oct 1, I was in heaven using it. It felt "sturdier" if that makes sense.
