I wish there was a little more clarification on the repackaging of some of these items. It would help me determine if I would buy it now or later. As someone had mentioned before if they were going to change the way the ribbon was packaged they would have retired the ribbon keepers of that size. Since they are not I am only guessing that they are possible changing the name so that match the colors we have now. Like calling chocolate - chocolate chip And we don't have a french blue paper color either. This is only a speculation.
Wondering about "Going Grey" also. Didn't someone mention something about this on the cruise? I can't remember....
SU! is introducing Basic Gray ink - like Basic Black and Basic Brown - waterproof on the Whisper White/Very Vanilla cardstock, so it can be used for watercolouring, etc. So, there will still be a gray colour - with a new name - and thus the 'old' stuff is on the retiring list.

I just spoke with Demonstrator support,
the 12x12 colors listed will no longer be available in individual color packs, but will still be available in the color family assorted packs...
cartridges: same deal... the less popular colors are being discontinued, however blank cartridges and refils are still available if you want to use that color.
Ribbon: many colors are being reconfigured into new packaging, but some are being retired completely. Unfortunately they couldn't be more specific so I suggest if you have a particular color you use often, GET IT NOW. She could not confirm that we would have ribbon in every color, nor could she confirm which ones were being renamed/reconfigured.
for someone that is just coming on board with Stampin Up as a customer this is all very disheartening. The stuff I bought is now just gone. Kind of upsets me.

Actually, the Ribbon Keepers were only in mini catalogs and may not be available in the new catalog.

As a customer- you aren't really affected- you can still use everything you bought and SCS will have plenty of ideas for how to use it if you aren't sure. You can't restock after they sell out- but by the time you are ready to, you'll probably be in love with all the new stuff anyway!
As a demo (which I'm not) it could potentially mean losing a lot of things you are able to use as your business. That can be expensive.
Why can't they just state which colors in the grosgrain will be gone forever, and how they are changing the packaging. I would really like to know if they are keeping the spools. What would be the big deal in letting us know that info?

My friend is having a party Friday and since the label punch box is retiring, now I have no idea what to get. I still had 2 sets that I wanted plus the punch box, but there is no way I can afford both, great.

I'd gamble and wait on the punch box. One of the new hostess sets has stamps for the Designer Label punch which leaves me to believe that this punch will be available individually in the new catalog.

But didn't they discontiue the first tag box and it never was available again. And the tag stamps were a hostess set. So that is what I'm worried about.

The Tag Punch was available by itself in the next catalog (without the box and accompanying box, stamps and ink spots). So if you are only interested in the punch, I would wait. But if you love the stamps in the punch box, you should get it now.

While the tag set WAS discontinued, that punch (and now a smaller version as well) are available for puuchase individually.

I HOPE and PRAy they continue to offer these on spools - in fact I hope they offer some of the new pattern ribbon on spools rather than packaged with other ribbon...2 yards don't do me a lick of good for classes and swaps
i love love love ribbon anyway BUT...
SU! has (IMO) the best quality ribbon and at the best price.
i would be soooo very happy to see it in a larger selection of colors.
ok, so in regards to the grosgrain ribbon, what is everone doing? I was going to buy tangerine, french blue, light orchid, maize and eggplant. In your opinions, is this a good idea?
I am thinking that tangerine, french blue and maize may not be back, not real popular colors (only my guess).
I am so torn on what to do about this.

If i was a betting person I would say you're right about those three colors, though I personally love the tangerine.

Wasn't the first tag box in a mini catalog though? So that doesn't show up on the retiring list. (Maybe I'm wrong)

If you're just a customer it doesn't matter if a product is retired, does it? We can still use it.
I am so disappointed! I've been saving money for the new catalog, and now I have to spend it all because the multi-packs for 12 x 12 are a waste of money!! If I wanted multi-packs, they have them now. I WANT INDIVIDUAL PACKS!!! If you scrapbook much, you gotta have the paper in individual colors!! I hope Stampin' Up! feels my misery!!
The email I received from my demonstrator stated that some of the retiring things will be retired as is but will return in a different state in the next catalog. The exact words are:
In addition to discontinued items, many years we also have a number of items that are being offered in a different quantity or assortment in the upcoming catalog. This year, we're offering the following items differently in the Fall-Winter Collection 2007:
Select individual color packs of 12" x 12" card stock
Confetti White & Kraft Tiny Takeout boxes & tags
Select embossing powder colors
Select 1/4" grosgrain ribbon colors
Corner Rounder punch
These items appear on the retired list and will be retired in their current quantity or assortment, but you will be able to purchase these or similar items in a different configuration, quantity, or assortment in the Fall-Winter Collection 2007.
I spoke with someone this morning about this and they told me that those colors will no longer be available separate but only in multi packs. The more popular colors, not on the list, will still be available in separate packs. I am very disappointed in this. I do not want to have to buy my 12x12 in multipacks. I am a huge scrapbooker and I like to have packs of ALL the colors on hand and I do go through a lot of it!!
Robyn
I agree, Robyn. I was really disappointed when I saw all the singular packs being "retired." I'm glad the colors will be available, but it's disappointing not to be able to get a package of one color. Wonder why SU's doing that...

I heartily agree. That's how I feel, too. I'm already liking the clear/acrylic stamps better than rubber, but I've always liked SU's colors of ink and paper and how they coordinate. It's disappointing.
