Absolutely! I don't know how I lived without one when I first started stamping! Nothing beats a nice crisp fold on your cards! Hope this helps! Happy Stampin! God Bless!

Using the advice of someone on this site, I use my scraper from Pampered Chef. If you are familiar with Pampered Chef, it is the little brown square that you get when you order a stone to scrape the food off. Works great for me!

Default Adding My Thoughts TOO!

A "Bone Folder" was one of the first tools I purchased when I started in stamping. Bought it at Michael's. Couldn't live without it!! I use it for EVERYTHING, letter opener, smoother of paper, to hold things down when heat embossing, etc. I bought an SU! bone folder last year to take to workshops but I like my original one better as it is longer, a bit wider and just FEELS better in my hand.

I now have a Scor-Pal - LOVE IT, but still reach for my bone folder to tidy up the crease.
Thanks for all the GREAT input and ideas!

In a word, NO!

All sorts of stuff can be used to flatten a fold, and if you sew, you've got two of the best substitutes around: a point turner; a Clover Needlecraft Finger Presser.

This freebie will flatten any fold with ease.

I never thought I needed one, but now, ya'll have me sold! Has anyone tried the martha stewart one, (I know we have it at work, and it's cheaper than the one in the stamping aisle)?

They are not a necessity (I can't believe I just said that). But I can tell you that the minute you use a REAL bone folder (not a plastic one) in place of whatever you are currently using, you will buy it.

I bought the Teflon bone folder from Ellen Hutson. I liked the fact that if I use it as a second hand to hold something down that I am glueing, it won't stick to the glue. Plus, one end is really nice and crisp for a great fold. I have the Scor-Pal but often fold my card and give the crease a once over with this bone folder to make it a nice sharp fold.

Talking I did it. I bought one!

Well from all the great comments from this thread I bought a teflon bonefolder, and I LOVE it! I got it off of Ebay. But I now understand the saying of "you'll never go without one again." I just started on my Christmas cards, and the creases are super!

Thanks for all the advice and comments!

And, if you get a teflon bone folder? OMG, are those ever slick for creasing your score lines without leaving a shine. I received one as a gift from a friend who raved about 'em, but I stubbornly refused to buy one.

This was one of those, "you don't know what you're missing until . . . " and she was right!

I use my Scor-Pal to score lines, but, I use my teflon bone folder when creasing. Darn thing is spendy, but, IMHO, well worth the price for the results and you'll only ever need one your whole life anyway . . . ;)
I make cards for a while without one and finally ordered a plastic one for creasing the folds.

I read about tefon bone folders and watched an eBay auction site and bid until I finally won one... it is wonderful!!! He also has a website where he sells them for much more than what the auctions start at on eBay. He also has several sizes available and doesn't always have them all listed.

I was lucky enough to also win a set of four teflon coated tweezers in different styles from the same site that are really great.

I put off buying one for a long time as well...but I finally picked on up...I think at Hobby Lobby or Michael's or some store like that. It wasn't too expensive, only a few dollars and I LOVE it. I never make a card without it, makes such a nice crisp fold!
