Default Does Embossing powder get old or stale?

I was just wondering if embossing powder gets old, stale and what would cause this to happen. Mine does not seem to emboss like it did when it was fresh...new. Does anyone know the answer?

Thanks
Cara

I honestly dont know, but I wonder if humidity or possibly your Versamark pad are the problem and not the powder?

I heard once that the gold powders go bad and should be carefully stored or the gold isn't so shiny (someone bought a huge bulk bag and didn't store it carefully). I don't know about other colors.

I have a very old gold that looks tarnished but powder itself should not spoil as it is simply ground up resin.

I've had to throw away a few jars because it didn't get shiny anymore. I've had my current set for about 4 years and no problems. I keep it stored in the little jars it comes in, then I put those in a ziploc container (because I can throw it away when I want to), then I store it in a dry place. My friend stored hers in the same drawer as her stamp cleaner and baby wipes, and had to throw the lot of it away because it wouldn't emboss correctly anymore and get shiny, so it might be humidity. The only thing I have in that drawer is embossing powder and glitter, all stored in a ziploc container.

For years I've saved all the little packets that come in vitamin jars, shoes, whatever, and toss them in the drawers where I keep my powders. I firmly believe they help keep the moisture level down. I do think, though, that I've read that heat and stick powder does lose its effectiveness over a long period.
