I am fan of Picasa 3. You guys will also love the create a mosaic and movies features - they are all super simple. Love that.
Thanks for the info about adding the same watermark to multiple images; hadn't figured that out yet. And thanks for the heads up about when adding the watermark, keep in mind if the image is portrait or landscape. Good info.
Oh, I'm sooo excited!! Maybe even I can figure out how to add a watermark to my pics!! Thanks, thanks, thanks!!

I have some dumb questions. I currently have Picasa2. If I upgrade, do I have to save all of my stuff in Picasa2 somewhere and then put it into Picasa3? Do I have to uninstall Picasa2 in order to upgrade to 3?

I have that also. I didn't have to cancel out for the other. It automatically updated with the this version. I wouldn't worry about it.

Click on the picture and type your text as usual. When you move your mouse outside of the textbox, a round circle with a "handle" should appear. Click and drag the handle around to rotate it or change the scale.
I have a question. I thinks it's great that I can put a watermark on my cards but why is it when I download my card to SCS the watermark does not show up on the card?

Nicole,
when you put your watermark on your photo did you click apply? After you click apply it should be saved with your watermark on it and you should be able to upload it into your SCS gallery;)

I'm sure I pressed apply, do I also have to resave it afterwards? Thanks for all of your help. I'll give it a try on my next card and see what happens.

The same thing happened to me. I would add the watermark then had to go to File then Save As and put it in My Pictures and then upload the pic to SCS gallery from there. I was a little disappointed at having to go all those extra steps. Does anyone know of a quicker and better way?

After I click "apply" for the text, I never "save as" after that. I just keep all the cards I'm going to upload in my "photo tray" by pressing the "hold" button (at the bottom-it's a green pushpin above the red circle). Once I have all of them, I click "export" and name the file by the date (ex: 12070. Then when I go to upload a card on SCS, I know to just upload all the files in that folder.
Alternately, after you make changes to all your photos, if you are in library mode, scroll to the top of your folder and there is a button to the right of the folder name that says "save to disk" to save all your changes at once.
I'm so glad you guys liked it! I try to spread the gospel of Picasa whenever I can!
To add the same text to all of your greeting card pictures:
In the library view, click the photo that has the text on it.
Select "Edit" from the top menu, then "copy text"
Now, you can either select multiple photos by pressing the ctrl button as you click them OR if you want to select all the photos in a certain folder, click the first photo, then press the shift button as you click on the last photo.
Once you have all your photos selected, go to the edit menu again and select "paste text".
Some other neat stuff to fool around with: the retouch tool, the "I'm feeling lucky" button (works better for "real" pictures, it gets confused with card pictures!), the "warmify" button (under the "effects" tab-great for helping photos taken under fluorescent light), and of course, good ol' fashioned sepia (under the effects tab)
Thank you SO MUCH! I am going to make sure to do this to all of my photos, you are a DREAM

You don't have to take any backup. Picasa is just a user interface, all your photos will be stored where they were.

I luuurrve what you can do with Picasa, including the watermark feature (yay!), but I also really like it's way of editing photos. *But* (and there's always a but, isn't there!), how do I get my edited pics *out* of Picasa? When I go to upload to sites (Splitcoast, Ravelry -a knitter's site- or my photo printer's site, where I'd reeeaally like edited uploads), Picasa doesn't show up, and I can't find it anywhere.
Is this just my computer, or a user interface (ie I'm stoopid) problem?
Thanks for any help!
Karen.

i love this and use it all the time. opening photoshop just to add a watermark is just too tedious.. i use picasa to crop, color correct and watermark everything now. easy peasy!
Alrighty girls, call me doe doe but what is the address for this little gem?
Sounds like I've been missing out on this!
Go back to entry #1 of this thread and in the second paragraph, she has a link when you click on the word 'here' that is in bold print. Good luck! I've been using Picasa for watermarks and cropping ever since I discovered this thread.

If you just edit, your edited pictures should still be in the same place you had them before (e.g. "My Pictures" folder).
I have a question. I thinks it's great that I can put a watermark on my cards but why is it when I download my card to SCS the watermark does not show up on the card?
Thanks for all the helpful info. ladies. I downloaded Picassa yesterday and finally was able to watermark some projects I wanted to upload to my gallery. However, I found the same.....the watermark appears on the photos that I've saved in My Documents, but once it is uploaded to the SCS gallery, the watermark is gone. What am I doing wrong? Any advice is much appreciated.
For those of you not seeing your watermark on the uploaded cards, have you exported the picture of the card with the watermark already saved on it into your pictures file outside of Picasa? (I use Windows Picture Viewer)
I am not sure if that makes a difference or not, as I have only been uploading to my blog recently, but all of mine upload properly when I export them.
In Picasa, the export button is located on the bottom toolbar under your picture gallery.
Again, I don't know if this will do it, but I thought it might be worth a try for you.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, my pictures are in "My Pictures", but remain frustratingly unedited, even though I had already edited them in Picasa. Maybe I am not doing a save, or missing a step. More playing is required! :?

I was having the same problem with the watermark not showing up on my gallery card. What I do now is after I put on the watermark I go up to file and save as, this seems to do the trick. That's if I remember that I can now put on a watermark. LOL

I'm with you, sister! I am subscribed to this thread and read about it every day.... and just finished catching up with my uploading ~ and totally forgot to put the watermarks on! Yikes! Well... I'm having trouble with the "my gallery" link in my signature line, too ... tomorrow's another day, right?!

You do have to hit apply after you make any changes and then export them to your "My Pictures" in order for the changes to show up there.
I had the same problem today. I followed all of the steps and it even showed in the little picture when you upload, but once I filled everything out as far as the recipe goes etc. and clicked save here on SCS my picture showed up unedited and without my watermark. I've tried to put it in a seperate folder and loead it up and the same thing over and over again. I just wonder why it works for some and not for others:confused: .
Why is my brain blocked,LOL???

Once you have edited the picture and saved your changes to it by clicking apply, you will be back in your Picasa gallery. Pick the picture(s) you want to export, then click on the EXPORT folder at the bottom of Picasa.
It will pop up with a window that says what folder do you want to export to? Label it and then continue (mine is called something original like cards! LOL).
When the export finishes, you will get a new window that pops up. Browse that for your picture. It should be there in your normal media/pictures folder with the changes you made in Picasa.
Then, on SCS, when you upload, browse for Picasa Exports in your normal media/pictures file folders. Your picture should be in there.

Thanks for the great step-by-step! I didn't know it showed up in a different "picasa exports" folder for some people. I hope this helps everyone get a watermark!
