I have been looking at my cards and wondering what i could do to add a little extra "something" to spice them up a bit. I have been trying different things: hemp, brads/eyelets, and others. I need some ideas.
What are favorite embellishments to use on your projects?
Right now, I love adding fancy fibers. I love to get them on sale at Michael's. Whether you add them via eyelets or just wrap them, they sure do add a lot!!! I mean, it's basically a variation of ribbon....

It's not an embellishment, but I like using the slit punch to insert another piece into. See an example here: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers. I use the punch to hold vellum over a stamped panel, also. A little more interesting than all the right angles I normally use!
Lisa, ha ha, staples. I haven't brought myself to try them yet. I saw a little stapler with colored staples at Michaels the other day but didn't buy it! LOL
Honestly, my dislike of staples is because I've cut myself with them too many times. My kids can attest that I'm a klutz. You know the Eclipse gum, and others, where you push the gum out through the foil back? Do you want to know how many times I've cut myself doing that?????
They really like to keep me away from sharp objects.

I think everything needs an eyelet or two. The shapes are always fun, but a mini round is a classic. I also like ribbon, grosgrain or organdy, usually tied in a square knot. Most of the time a bow is too much.

I'd say GLITTER with a little GLITTER on the side and a pinch of GLITTER on the top seriously, barring any card I do with the fishing or animal sets, pretty much all cards I do have glitter on them. Now when my friends and I talk about the cards I make we don't actually call them cards anymore, we call them sparklies  As in, "did you work on any more sparklies this weekend Andrea?"

Now Andrea, what is wrong with a trout or bass with a bit of flair? I personally love to see a nice stamped image of a deer with a bit of sparkle. Heck, for that matter, I say that all of God's creatures need a dash of glitz.
Nothing wrong wit any of it! Glitter away, girl!

ROTFLOL!!!!
It's so true, once you have put glitter on one card in a "session" you might as well just do them all! You'll be wearing glitter the rest of the day anyway!
Hasn't anyone ever made card just go with the new ribbon they just bought??? LOL
absolutely! half the time, instead of starting with the stamp set i want to use and building around that, i start with the ribbon, or other embellishment and go from there. probably a bit backwards, but if i didn't do it that way, i'd never use all my "stuff!"

How could I forget how much I LOVE to use glitter? It is on virtually EVERYTHING! A little sparkle never killed anyone. I was sad when SU retired the glitter stacks. :( Although, dazzling diamonds is really doing it for me right now.
I tend to get on these kicks where I can't get enough of an embellishment for a while. Currently I am emossing on everything and I'm loving any kind of ribbon/fibers. It wasn't long ago that I didn't use either of these though.

embellishments
I am a HUGE fan of buttons right now. I've only been stamping for about 6 or 7 months. My first embellishment was brads; love them! Now I'm adding buttons, and I'm getting the ribbon itch! I like to try one at a time and see how it goes!

You guys totally crack me up... out loud, even!
Let's see... favorite embellishment?
Snaps, eyelets, fibers, ribbons, glitter, pop-dots, embossing powder, buttons, beads, hemp, those little glass bits you put in shaker tags, crystal effects...
am I forgetting anything? Nope, so far that's it!

I'm wild for gingham ribbon right now. I also just picked up some ric rac and dotted swiss ribbon that I'm itching to use.
As for Andrea and glitter, this morning I showed a customer how to use crystal effects with her dazzling diamonds. After we were finished she laughed and told me that I had DD all over my face. I just winked at her and told her it was my SU glow, baby!
I love embossing ALOT!!! I may do it too much
I used to be big on eyelets, now I'm into the snaps. And metallic anything, especially copper. Oh, and the swirly paperclips--so cheap, so easy to use and so fun!
