Default Favorite/Must have Big Shot dies

I received a Big Shot for Christmas (bought by me for DH to wrap and put under the tree, he was very generous) and I am curious as to what the most useful dies are and/or what you would recommend?

skip the top notch die and buy the Nestie instead then you get 5 or 6 of the same shape for layering

The thing abotu the nesties though is that they won't cut through half the materials that the sizzix dies can so if you want to cut through thicker chipboard, material, felt, tin and so on then you'll need the bigger sizzixs. If you are only going to cut paper and thin chipboard then the nesties are what you're after.

I agree, I've used the heck out of my Top Note. I've also used the heck out of the Lattice die too. I absolutely love, love, love the Stampin Up embossing folders! So much to with them.

Best advice when looking at Sizzix dies go for something that you can use on different mediums. Study your style and see what dies you would use the most. Sizzix dies are expensive. I was lucky a few years ago I was able to get a lot of Sizzix dies for "steal" prices so I have a nice library now. Go through Sizzix.com and look through their whole library. You will get some great ideas.

I use a lot of shapes, tags, flowers, butterflies, & jars.

I have a lot of animals, food, weather. I have my precious Hello Kitty dies.

Don't forget your accessories and embossing folders.

Congrats on your new Big Shot!

The Big Shot is fun. I used to have a Cuttlebug and when I got a deal on the BS, I gave CB to my sister.

I use Spellbinder's Nestabilities and embossing folders -- Sizzix, SU, Cuttlebug, Tim Holtz.

I just bought (it's on its way!) a Tim Holtz Sizzix die and can't wait to use it!

The must haves are the things you'll use and love :^) !

P.S. Reading back, I have used Nestabilities with felt in the BS and it works fine! But it's true, Nestabilities won't cut everything like a Sizzix die will.

top note

large scallop circle & clear scallop square, because i also use to cut fabrics so double duty there ;)

scallop oval frame

any of the flower ones

i have 2 sets of nesties and find i am not that big a fan of them. it may be on my part and being new to them, but also because they do not do the double duties Sizzix dies can do......and i like to get more for the $!

i also love punches ;)
