HELP! I just invested in a set of Fiskars texture plates to use like Cuttlebugs with my Big Shot. I can't get it to make an impression. I read here that you use a shower pan liner to build up the thickness...still no success. I have tried other thickness's and can't get anything to work. I am beginning to have more of an investment that I anticipated. Does any one else use these texture templates with their Big Shot's?
Thanks
With the Cuttlebug I mist the cardstock then layer on the plastic plates and add cardstock layers one at a time until it works. I can tell by the way it starts to roll into the machine if it will have enough pressure to emboss.
Cardstock one at a time is because they are different thickness so some will need extra layers to get the pressure correct.
I'm not at all familiar with the Big Shot so I hope this helps.
Big Shot had a Big Shot Impressions Starter Kit, otherwise known as BISK. It came with a black "impressions" mat - this seems to work well for the texture plates. Do you have one of these? Now that all of the changes have occured between Ellison and Sizzix I'm not certain what to recommend, but you might want to look in to this product created for the Big Kick or try the Spellbinders Tan Embossing Mats. Hope this helps!
I bought the Sizzix Texturz Starter Kit to use with my Big shot. It contains an Impressions Pad and Silicone Rubber Sheet that seems to work with the Fiskars texture plates for the most part. If I want the impression deeper I add a piece of cardboard until I find the desired look.
Michaels is now carrying some of those pads along with the Big Kick, so you could maybe check there for the right pad. Definitely spritz your paper, though. That really makes a big difference.

Same here!! I bought a set to use in my Cuddlebug. I bought the gray plumber's gasket stuff too. No luck. And I'm not in to the mistin' with water & such...I'd gladly sell mine, the templates that is!!

Well, I just bought a 12 pack of these texture plates and I am having no luck whatsoever with using them in my Cuttlebug :(
I have used so many different "sandwich recipes" and nothing yet is working and I am getting frustrated!! I haven't tried the plumbers gasket yet but I am gonna buy some tomorrow and hopefully that will do the trick. If not, then these things are going back to the store!!! I can't see me using them any other way. The texturizing tool that came with the set seems rather useless to me

I use the BISK in my Big Kick with my Fiskars texture plates. I very lightly mist both sides of the cardstock with water and run the plate through twice. It works great.
I also use the BISK and mist my paper when using the Fiskars or Ellison plates in my Big shot. They still don't emboss as deeply as the CB folders but they weren't intended too. It's a really nice effect and works on vellum too!
Does no one here use the little tool that goes with the Fiskar's plates? I love mine and use them quite a bit. This is a great job for kids to do since they like to help so much. The tool is not much larger than a thimble and they can rub to their heart's desire!
I had never tried to run mine through my Sizzix machine but the lady that always helps me at AC Moore says she does it all the time. You simply have to be careful not to over press on the Sizzix lever or you can break the plastic templates.

I use them with my Cuttlebug using the BISK and it works for me. I do lightly mist the paper before putting it in the stack. I'd have to go look at my cheat sheet to see exactly how the sandwich works, but if you need that info let me know and I can look it up. I have heard that plumbers gasket works the same as the rubbery sheet from the BISK but since I have the kit I've never tried the gasket. Good luck!
Darn I had these in my hand today to get and put them back. I had a 40% coupon to use with them but wasn't sure if they would do a good job. I found the tool and plates at Michaels.
