I LOVE it! I bought the Poar White at my LSS last weekend and the glue. I just love how it looks and how fluffy it is for snow.
QUESTION - Do you use a lot of glue or just a lil bit? I watch the tutorials on youtube for it - but I always have some that flakes off after its all dry.
I there a way to avoid this?
meluvstampin.....Sounds like you are doing the process correctly. I would not use an over amount of glue or you won't have the look of the Flower Soft you want. Pressing down on the product so it sticks to the glue is good. There is always a few bits that are not in the glue that may flake off after the glue dries. Don't worry about them.
If you do have large bare spots, then yes, you probably didn't use enough glue. But other than that, don't worry about the little bit that flakes off.
I tried some of this a few days ago. My glue brand new is plugged...I just bought all this stuff at the stamp expo a few weeks ago. The autumn color of Flowersoft is so striking. I hope I get the hang of it soon.
I bought the polar white fs a couple of wks ago, but have not had time to try it yet!! I did a quick demo at the store, so I kinda know what to do. but I'm glad you asked about how much glue to use, cause I'm not sure either!! I hope I like this stuff!! Karen

Hi Tina..
blessings.
I want to get the Autumn color next. My LSS was sold out of it so I will have to go back soon to see if they got it in.
I always have some flake off but no bare spots. The stuff that flakes off is just the top layer that never made it down to the glue.
I've dying my own with reinkers. You just add a few drops in a small container and smoosh it into the flowersoft with a small spoon or popcisle stick. It takes a couple of days to dry but I don't have to buy a bunch of colors. I made my own mix of heather and autum shades by dying batches of white.
I just bought some polar white to and yet to use it. This will be my first exp using it too.
I have Aleen's Tacky glue will this work ok with the flower soft? I should have paid more attention to what kind of glue is used with it but had to make it a quick order.
I saw the fall colors they look gorgeous.
I bought mine at 7 kid's college fund - the prices & shipping has always been great for me. I played with the new Polar white tonight and loved it - it's so sparkly, perfect for snow.
Here's a few closer looks at some cards I've made with it on my blog recently...
and the same image - this time with the green flower soft:
Alene's tacky glue is the same glue that the Flower Soft company sells in small bottles - so go right ahead and use any tacky glue you have.
Suzanne Dean has a video on how to use Flower Soft over on YouTube. Here's the link: Flower Soft

How fun! Stoughton is a great place to live and raise a family!
How about this... my great grandfather lived & taught & coached at the UW College in Wausau for several years.

I don't live to far from the college! They are now adding on to it. They bought out 2 city blocks, tore down all the houses and now starting the construction.
About flower soft, what I'm not getting from the videos is what medium you're supposed to color your image with. Two of the videos that I watched didn't have the image colored at all; 1 said you need to color first. But what do you use?
I guess the question could be asked, what won't run or change color when it reacts to the glue? Copics? Water-based? Maybe pencils are best? TIA.

I have colored with SU waterbased markers and I used Copics/Prismas on others and no problem with any of them .
I've been trying to find the Autumn color locally and no luck so far. It must be very popular. I have the polar white - just haven't used it yet...but will for this year's Christmas cards.
I find the easiest way to work with the glue is to just put a dab on a piece of wax paper then use a toothpick to place the glue where I want it. I use the Ailenes tacky glue.

Love this stamp... can you tell me what the brand and name is?
I LOVE the idea of making my own Flower Soft. It looks really easy to make.
However, I have this very stuffy friend ( who thinks he is smarter than anyone else or maybe just smarter than me:rolleyes that made the comment, "You have to be very careful with styrofoam, it is very toxic and is carcinogenic. I wouldn't use it". Now, I'm not an idiot and I DO have a mask as well as protective glasses AND I have worked with a lot of crafts during my lifetime and I'm still going strong at 73. Has anyone else felt that it is too dangerous to work with?? Another friend of mine said she was not planning on making a career out of it and just try it out, so she felt that if she used styrofoam once in a while and took proper precautions with it that she wouldn't be in any danger. I agree with her. Common sense should prevail.
Thanks, Meluvstampin. I saw the video, which is what prompted me to send it to the friend who was cautioning me. I only just calmed down from my fit of pique this week , and decided to write the comment. Sorry I was late with it...
Styrofoam--Carcinogenic?....Let's keep this in perspective. We aren't consuming it 24/7.The poor gentleman who suggested such...well, he probably hasn't enjoyed his life as much as you have. Keep up your passion for art, wear a mask if it makes you more comfortable. I only use Flower Soft once a month for 15 minutes at most. I don't wear a mask. I also use glue for products (which has an odor), inks (what's in them that has crossed the skin barrier?), embossing powder (does anyone wear a mask for that?). I hope the picture is clear. We can worry about a lot of things, but crafting isn't one of them. We aren't working in factories where we do this all day, every day. I know you make beautiful things Chocolate Rose, so keep doing it and ignore your "friend". Congratulations on being 73! I would love to hear the stories of your life. I bet you have a lot to share. Please don't worry and continue to create!
Thank you Vaitiare. Nothing deters me from doing what I really love to do, and that's making art of some sort NEARLY every day. As you say I'm not doing this 24/7, and I don't plan to. This friend thinks he's being helpful, but I just find it irritating to be constantly told "Oh, you have to be careful about this or that, or the next thing" I DO have some sense or I wouldn't have lasted this long. LOL I was just venting- probably inappropriate here, but I was wondering whether anyone else had concerns about working with the styrofoam to make a fake Flower Soft.
I belong to THREE ATC groups trading every month PLUS some of us make collaborative books ( and we each get a copy). I have just finished making 18 paper pieces of cake with little home made gifties inside. The slices are decorated on the outside with various mediums, including Flower Soft. And foils. And stamping. And rickrack.
I have a cakebox ( from a local bakery) to put the pieces of "cake" in to take them to the trade. We will each get someone else's cake slice in trade. I still have to make some ATC's to go with them.
I may be retired, but I'm not dead!!
