Gina K pure luxury kraft - has anyone noticed a difference?
I've been buying Gina K's pure luxury kraft cardstock for over a year now. I was very happy with it until my last order. It is a LOT rougher than it was before and appears to have more pulp/fibres such than when I score and fold it, it splinters. I'm really not pleased with it and Gina K's customer service said that they haven't noticed a difference and that I could send it back for a refund. I won't be sending it back because the postage will cost more than I paid for it. I doubt I'll be ordering kraft from them in the future as a result of this. I'm interested to know if anyone else has noticed this difference. Thank you!
I haven't used this paper, so can't really answer your question.
However, I can recommend a good kraft cardstock. From Michael's of all places. Their new line of cardstock called Recollections has a kraft cardstock that I've found to be excellent - and inexpensive. It's a good weight, great kraft color, and very smooth for folding and stamping on.

I have a brand new pack I just received a little over a week ago and it feels just like what I had before... (I still had a couple of sheets left). I know sometimes CS will splinter and buffing is down solves the issue. I just cut/scored and don't have any splintering... Hhhmm...
Well, I too of course have had the kraft cardstock since it first came out....and it is my absolute FAVorite cardstock! So, that said, I do use alot of it, and like said before me, I have not noticed a difference at all. I CAN say though, you talked about the scoring and it splintering....if your scoring tool gets a bit worn, or you press down too hard trying to scor it, it will do that....as does any cardstock that I have used. My scor tool got a bit worn and I replaced it and it hasnt done that since....I was pressing to hard because my scor tool was wore out basically! Hope this might help you...cause personally, I do not think there is a better cardstock out there.
Maybe you got a dud? How about if we send you a new pack and see if it's better. Send me an email directed to Gina K. at [email protected]. We'll get it right.

Thanks so much for your responses, ladies, and a huge thank you to Gina!! I didn't want to be disappointed because I really can't live without your pure luxury basics! I'll send you an email.
I can't help but wonder why couldn't Gina K's customer service have offered the same solution right up front as Gina K did on here. We shouldn't have to call in the "big guns" to fix others mistakes. If Gina K hadn't been monitoring these boards, she wouldn't have known she had an unhappy customer.
I say this because I had a bad experience today with customer service of my cable/internet/phone company and it made me cranky. The front line customer service should have been able to help me with my problem (and it isn't really that complicated or difficult) without me having to resort to having to write to the VP of Customer Relations.
In any event, it is great to see Gina K step to the plate. I haven't ordered from this company yet but it is on my list of someday based on events such as this :-)

I would just like to give a huge shout out to Gina, she is an incredible lady that stands my her products and is so very pleasant to deal with, especially with us Canadians.
I'm not familiar with Gina K paper, but I work in a print shop and I know that paper grain affects the folding and scoring... we reference it as short grain and long grain and it can affect the whole job if we have a job that was intended for one grain direction and we accidentally got shipped the other. There are several ways to detect the grain of the paper, the direction it curls when moistened is one (I don't recommend that) lol it's all quite fascinating really. I had always made cards but didn't "get it" until I worked at a print shop. :p Maybe something got cut wrong grain? I've heard brilliant things about the Gina K line of papers though...and their customer service.
Thanks to all of you for your support! I'm so happy with Gina's response to my problem and all is good.
Lorri, I agree with you, Gina's service is second-to-none and fast, especially with us Canadians!
Andrea, that is very interesting about paper being cut the wrong grain because the entire package I have is curled and it's not even wet!! How funny! I don't know if Gina has any say in the manufacturing process but hopefully mine was the only pack and there won't be any more problems.
