Hey Friends. With Christmas being close and card making in full swing I have developed a love for all the sparkle. I discovered recently something called glass glitter. I love it, but it doesn't seem to come in very many colors or there aren't many places to purchase.
That being said what is your favorite brand of glitter? I'm really displeased with a set i got from Walmart because it looks so childish.
My response below wasn't for glass glitter. Stampendous has glass glitter in vivid colors here: https://www.stampendous.com/shop/gli...glass-glitter/
I have used these, and they're beautiful, but glass glitter is coarser than the fine glitter I find much easier to use --and just as colorful.
This isn't about glass glitter, but I have recently started making paper beads and before I put my finish on them, I have deco art paint with glitter in it. It actually dries clear with the sparkle from the glitter. I LOVE it for the purpose in which I use it. When I get my finishes on my beads they are clear coated and have a sparkle of glitter in them that does not fall off. Every one loves them. My secret is out!! hehehe hugs, patty

I am a huge fan of DecoArt craft glitter paint, and talked about it a lot on another thread. I love both kinds of their glitter paint, Twinkles and Glitter Dust. They come in gorgeous colors, are easy to use and dry to last!

I love my DecoArt Glitter paint. I was one of the girls that talked about it. I am a glitter junkie.
I am truly a glitter junkie. That quote "I bleed glitter." is totally me. I have a lot of glitter. This is my expert field, lol. I make a lot of glitter mixes.
I get a lot of my glitter from nail art suppliers. I love Michael's Recollection glitter. Check Etsy for pretty glitter mixes.
Glass Glitter is one I don't use though. I opened a jar in Michael's one day and the glass cut me pretty bad. I was really careful when I opened the jar. I had shards of it in my finger. One of the employees and a customer was standing there and they were freaking out. I am like "This stuff is dangerous! Never!" We all wanted to see what it looked like. I guess we know what it looks like now, lol.
Like Dee Ann, I get a lot of my ultrafine Glitter from nail art suppliers, mainly from E-Bay. Art Institute do do an incredible array of glitter colours, but unless you want a gradient of colours for an Ombre look, it is an expensive way to buy it. Never tried the glass glitter, and think I will be staying well away!
I've worked with glass glitter and I found it too chunky and over powering on my projects. I have worked with a lot of different glitters and each has its own merits. But recently I found Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Kiss and I am in love!! It is a water based glue and glitter in one and it is amazing. No more wearing glitter!! It comes in 16 colours and Cosmic Shimmer is from Creative Expressions. Glitter Kiss is my new go to product!! If you are looking for something a little chunky and has lots of shine I recommend Papericious's Crystal Clear. You put it on your projects with a glue that dries clear. Very pretty and looks like the glisten of sunshine on snow. I also use a very fine delicate looking glitter called Fairy Dust. It comes in a salt shaker container and is available I believe in three colours. It is put on projects ideally with Glue Gloss. It is a light weight clear glue that is in a lip gloss container and has a lip gloss applicator.
I think I understand you to be asking not only glitters we like but other formats for glitter?
Stickles comes to mind. Small easy to control bottles, not terribly expensive esp on sale at Joann's, lots of colors.
Sparkle and Sprinkle is a glitter source. As is Judikins, Hero arts, WOW, Elizabeth Crafts design has their silk microfine glitters....I need to look at Art institute. I think many people have a mix of brands because we are color driven.
There are pre-made glitter tapes but you can make your own. Just take a piece of double sided tape and burnish some glitter on one side. ;)
What I am not a fan of...glitter embossing powder. I just find there isnt enough glitter for me in it.
I prefer ultra fines and fines for detail work like words to chunky personally. But chunky has it's place in the world. Some like it for snow, mixed media, craft projects, etc.
I agree wavejumper, glitter EP is rarely glittery enough. I have made my own in the past, adding glitter to either clear or coloured EP. It's a bit trial & error- not enough glitter to EP gives you no sparkle, too much, and it doesn't stick properly, so can end up more trouble than it's worth, lol.
