Default How to clean stampin scrub

I have the stampin scrub and I love it, but now it is starting to put ink back onto the stamps from the scrub. How do I clean it?

I have cleaned mine with a little dishsoap and some water. I don't know if that is the best way though. It definetly takes a bunch of ink off though!

Thats how I do it...just squeeze of soap and hot water and just use my hands to run the soap through (like you were washing your hair)....then rinse and let dry. I do it all the time

I've never used soap...just warm water and running my hands over it...then I pat with a dry towel and let air dry.

I have been told to run warm water over it until the water runs clear. Then I let it air dry.

dish soap and warm water is what I use.

I once heard someone say something about putting them in the dishwasher?? Anyone do this or have heard about it? does it work better?

Oh just dont let it go into a heat cycle with the dishwasher... I put a generic stamp n' scrub in the dishwasher once and it totally got deformed and some of the scrub was permanently matted from the heat.

I've heard of some doing this - putting them in the top rack of the DW, BUT they can get warped and take off a lot of the 'scrub' part.

I just use a tiny bit of dishsoap & cool water to clean them, pat them w/paper towels to get the excess water out & let air dry.

Default Cleaning Stampin Scrub

I just rinse with water and set it in the sun to dry quicker.

For the most part, I clean with liquid soap & warm water. When I want to get them REALLY clean, I let them soak in bleach/water. Yes, it does fade the black a bit, but that doesn't matter to me - what does matter is that they clean effectively. I have done this quite a bit and it has never affected the quality of the pad.

That's what would worry me; that's my reason for not trying it yet! Thanks for the info!

I've been washing mine with dishsoap and water too but lately that isn't cutting it for me so I put it in a pantyhose bag and toss it into the wash with my darks. That way I know where it is and it doesn't wind up in the dryer.

wash it with dish soap and water in the sink and scrub/rinse until it is clear.
Then I lay them face down on paper towels to dry-teh excess ink still trapped in seems to wick to the paper towels and it comes out clean.

Be careful putting your scrub pads in the sun; I read a while back that a lady in Texas put her scrub pad in the summer sun to dry, and the pad got all warped from the supernova-like heat they get down here.

I soak mine in warm soapy water overnight and then rinse them in the morning. Then dry them face down on paper towels.

Good call on the soaking overnight. I was just washing them off in water until the water ran clean but the last time I cleaned them I left them in the sink (without water in it) for a little while because I didn't have a paper towel to dry them off with and didn't think the hotel would appreciate me using their nice white towels to do the job. Anyway I was surprised by how much ink started coming off while it dried I washed it again and let it soak. Even after the second washing the soak water still had a pink/grey tinge at the end.

I do the same....wash in the sink with dishsoap....I've been known to use a little toooooooooo much and boy does it take forever to get it all rinsed out...lol

My upline throws hers in the wash with her dark towels or something. I did notice they warped a bit. I think putting them in a pantyhouse bag would be a good thing!

I got so tired of cleaning mine that I now have 4 sets...lol. I wash in the dishwasher or even my washing machine on delicate. Both work fine.

Just one thing I want to add...if you set it upside down to dry, put an old towel underneath it. I thought it was clean so I left it to dry overnight. The next morning, I moved it and realized the scrubber had dripped and left a permanent ink stain on my counter top. :( Does anyone know how to clean it?

I would try a Mr Clean Magic Eraser.

You could try bleach if the Magic Eraser doesn't work.

Try soft scrub with bleach. I've gotten stains off my counter with it.

I've used the powder cleaner, Bon Ami, it worked perfectly and won't scuff your counter top.

I've tried the dishwasher thing and the dishsoap and water thing but I still can't seem to get my scrub clean....it still leaves ink stains on the rubbah...not sure what to do next with it!

The dishsoap & water didn't work for me. I threw it in the dishwasher and it came out clean & fine.

Funny that I should find this thread today. I was trying to make a card using Roses in Winter with the Apricot stamp pad but the rose kept coming up muddy and I couldn't figure out why. At first I thought it was my stamp pad, so I tried using the marker, but when that didn't work either, the lightbulb finally came on. Sure enough, my scrubber pad was FULL of ink. After probably six rinses, I think it's finally getting to the point where there's only a little ink left. The scrubber used to be my daughter's so I guess she didn't clean it often, and I never remembered to do it. Lesson learned!

what I usually do is spray mist directly to the rubber stamp and then scrub. you get it cleaner that way. Because the solution in the pad is already dirty and black before you are done with your project. It's also great technique for pigments especially cause they are really inky.

I clean mine in the sink with warm water and dish soap too. I once put mine in the dishwasher on the top rack with the heat/dry setting off and it warped and freyed my Stampin Scrub.
I also stamp off any extra ink onto a baby wipe before using my stampin scrub..helps keep it cleaner longer.

I don't know what kind of counter top you have but if it's non-porus try rubbing alcohol to get the ink off. hth
