I have a mish mash collection of ink pads and I am now ready for some type of system. I know SU sells one but I think its kinda pricey..what do you use? I was possibly thinking like a small walmart tub/stacking tub? Need some ideas..thanks
well, before you purchase the stampin' up one, i'd recomend trying to find somene who has it in real life to see it. i personally don't really like mine, while other people seem to love theirs. i like the cassette tape holder. or even some of the other designs i've seen out there. just my two cents.

I have all the SU ones and use the caddy for it - I really like it.
I have all of the Brilliance Dew Drops and the Versamark Dew Drops and a bunch of Cat Eye Fluid Chalks - I keep all of those in the plastic boxes SU's stamp sets come in. They're perfect!
I have a few other random pads (mostly Encore and VersaMagic, etc.), and I just keep those in a little stack.
Well, my system isn't ideal, but it works for me. I use the 12x12 plastic drawers from Target and HL. One drawer holds two color families of SU ink, and more of the smaller random pads. I have to stack inkpads, of course, which is a little bit of a pain, but it's convenient, cheap, and works.
Go to the gallery and type stamp storage. You will see all sorts of great ideas. I purchased an old tape storage system for $3.00 at a thrift store. Looks similar to this Me with new stamp pad rack! by Lisa Loiselle at Splitcoaststampers. Not as nice as the one in the photo but it works.

I use one from a defunct company called "PortaInk". Their product was bought by another company, but I don't know if they are still produced or just what remaining stock they had was bought by the new place to sell off, etc. I LOVE my PortaInk system! It's GREAT! It has little covers that slide over the front to prevent the stamp pads from falling out if I want to take them with me somewhere with the strap that's attached to the top. I have to say, the BEST system I've seen. You can use it flat against a wall, you can mount it on the wall, you can put them back to back and on a rotating thing. They make "Marker Buddys" that hold your markers on the side, and the tops have spaces to put your re-inkers. LOVE it! You can use it "old style" or the new SU! ink pads because it has little inserts to fit in to make it compatible for the shorter ink pads, etc. KWIM? And for the PRICE (they were more expensive when the original company sold them! HUMPH!!) they can't be beat. They are SOOOO sturdy, not like the SU! one. These are GREAT! Here is a link to the store that now sells them. http://www.bestscrapbookshelf.com/?a...Join_ID=135113
www.kingdom.com has a cassette shelf made of nice wood that holds ALL my stamp pads. The shelves are removable so I can even put my tall Chalk pads in it after removing a couple of shelves.
I have a Craft Rack, too, and I must say that I do *love* it! It's so nice to have my ink pads all neatly organized and up off my table where I can see them. The one I have just holds ink pads. I bought one for my Mom that also holds some ribbon with her ink. And I think you can get ones that hold wheels as well
I also bought a craft rack from Cindy! I love that my stamp pads are up off my desk and right in front of me, I loved my color caddy but I was amazed at how much more space I had once I took them off my desk - the only problem is now I need some more
I have several tool boxes that I got at Home Depot. They are grey and yellow. The non su pads fit perfectly. I have one for dye, one for pigment, one for Brilliance, etc. They have a handle, so are easy to tote. I wrote in marker on the sides of the inkpads so I know the colors instantly. It works very well for me.

garage sale queen here, must say the cassette type are the ticket for me,hold all the old SU ones and I have another GS item that holds the lg ones from SU.
I put my stamps in a Sterilite file box - one of the ones designed to hold only a few files. It was narrow enough to hold 2 families of colors next to each other on one side, the other 2 families on the other, and probably 3 inches of room between the 2 sides. Am I describing this okay?
Well, it seems that whenever I need a stamp pad, it's on the bottom of the pile - the box is probably 12" deep, so it's a dig to get a pad off the bottom without having a pile collapse.
I recently just bought a wooden stamp pad holder off ebay - 96 spots for stamp pads and 4 dowels in the middle of the holder for ribbon, wheels, holding punches, etc. I haven't gotten it yet, but I'm sure it'll be better than digging in the box.
If you're looking for a cheap alternative, I noticed (as I was searching for a solution to my problem) that the ice containers for when you empty your ice trays (the narrow, long ones) hold the SU stamp pads pretty well. You'd need more than 1 depending on how many stamp pads you own, but they're about $2 a piece.
My husband is in the process of making me one that will hold 72 ink pads. It just got it's second coat of paint yesterday! I'll post a picture as soon as it's done. (I currently have them in a SU shipping box.)
I found the perfect holder at a yard sale. It's a zippered double-wide cassette holder with removable inserts that have holes in the back for attaching to a wall. I put my pads in the insert, hung on the wall, and when I want to take them somewhere I pop it off the wall, stick it in the holder and zip it up.
In the bottom of the holder I put my embossing supplies and/or wheels depending what I want with me at the time.
It's ideal, and I got it for $1.
Sorry I have no idea how to upload photos or I'd take a pic for you.

I purchased a Craft Rack from Cindy Keery! Awesome, is all I can say. Quick delivery, great price and it holds all of my SU ink pads and many Stazon pads, too! It really is great!:-D Check them out!
I just wanted to say, "Sahweet!" What a neat stamp pad holder! That would be perfect for me when I go up to my parents' house. I miss my stamps when I go for a visit.
