I got some divided plastic containers form the Target dollar spot quite a while ago that I use. There were 12 sections per container, so I used one per color family and got an extra for in colors. They were about an inch or so deep, and similar to the type of container sold for embroidery floss, but smaller. Maybe you could check out the cross stitch aisle at Michaels. I used an extra mini catalog and cut out the colors and names and taped them onto the top of the lid so I knew which color went where. I'm sure I got the idea from someone here on SCS, and they had pic uploaded to the thread.
Could you maybe get one of those plastic storage containers with the different compartments in it so that you could stick a wedge in each space? Kind of like this one: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.j...RODID=prd53261
I have a wedge for each color which are housed in individual snack sized zip lock baggies. I wrote on the outside the name of the color of each sponge and they hang from a wire hanger clipped with clothes pins, in my stamp space...finally, a use for those aweful wire hangers!
I've tried ziplock bags & rubbermaid tubs but was always frustrated when in a "need it right now" search for myself or for a class. So when I saw these containers at Hobby Lobby last year, I brought one home to try .... and promptly went back for 3 more. They're either $1.49 or $1.99 each too. ;) The spare compartments remaining are perfect for the In Colors, and spare wedges that are not yet assigned a color.

I did the same thing but I found my clear 12 sectioned boxes at Wal-Mart in the craft department. The little sections are big enough where I can also put a daubler in as well.
I use one of those containers usually used for nuts and bolts with the sliding drawers. I keep a stampin spot, sponge dauber, sponge wedge, Jumbo and reg. ink cartridge per color per drawer. Works great for me.
Location: prolly in my 'rubber room'... in the mid-west

This is exactly what I do, but I use the extra large fishing tackle box that you can get from walmart or cabella's. I am able to get 2 family in one box.

I made it to WM tonight and they had the ones like TexasGrammy's. They also had some that were a little smaller and had 12 spaces. I went for the smaller 12 slot ones. Thanks for your help ladies!
I keep 3 or 4 wedges on my stampin' scrub, pick one up, use a clean side, throw it back on the pile.
When I wash my stampin' scrub, I wash my sponges (some ink stains do not come out, but they are clean). Just sayin'...

I first felt the "need" for assigned colors when I began holding classes. I use a Sharpie marker to write the color name on the straight cut edge of each sponge, so now there are no mix-ups on the sponges across a table of 8 or 10 ladies. Much easier on my ink pads too! ;)
Great ideas - I have always just washed mine - they are stained but clean. I use the dark stained ones for dark colors and so forth.
It has worked so far. WIll have to consider a container to separate colors.
Just remember do not use soap on you sponges - all the soap never comes all out! there is always some soap left in. not a good thing!
I don't even wash mine out. Once the ink is dry I've never had a problem with it. I use every side of the wedge until I'm done stamping for the day. By the next day or so I can use them over again. I do keep light and dark separate just in case. Seems all of these storage ideas (except for the hanging baggies) will just take up too much space that I need for other things.

I don't want to mess with washing them out I guess.
When I am done stamping, I just wash the sponges out as I wash my hands - I don't like to keep any stampin' Mist on ink on my hands after I am finished working.

I have used the same wedge for over a year for ALL my colors and I haven't ever washed it. Never have any problems with old ink coming off.
Have others had problems with unintentional blending?
I bought two containers at WM that holds nails and screws and such in the tool section. They each have 30 little drawers. I keep a sponge wedge, my reinker, a sponge dauber, and if I have it, a stampin spot for each color. I have each drawer labeled. I like this system, although it does take up space. Let me see if I can link a pic. Sponge, reinker storage by stampersandee at Splitcoaststampers
I too, am a washer! I keep a hosiery laundry bag (the little zppered mesh type) by my stamping table. When I am done with a sponge I throw it in the bag. Every now and then I toss it in with a load of dark laundry. Then lay them out to dry. It works great.

Care to share the measurement of the little drawer? I want to make sure I get the right one!
Thanks for the great idea!

I use and re-use and wash them out. I cut my wedged into eighths.
CHEAP CHEAP
I just rinse them when I wash my hands as well. I lay them aside to dry with the scrubbies for cleaning . I bought some of the container you speak about from Ocean State Job Lots for a buck or two apiece and use those for embellies that aren't enough to warrant a larger space & those few feet of ribbon or fiber & odd things like googlie eyes or diaper pins for occasional use. Nice to hear all off the ways we do thing s tho!
