Hey there lady.... I dont think they are in alot of peoples budgets. I know I can not rationalize "needing it" over "wanting it". Maybe it is just a "gotta have it"...

That's what I'm afraid of! But 55 is going to have to be enough for awhile. Last week I officially became a "99er", so the only shopping Ill be doing for awhile is from my stash.
I have 3-4 LSS near me, and one has a refil bar its called. It is $1.00 to refill the markers. Is that a good price??? Melissa
Melissa, that is about 1/2 of what my LSS charges to refill them, so yes, that is a good price. Still less expensive over the long run to get refills of the colors you use most. I am going to start buying mine at Oozak. I will start with the lightest colors and work my way down the chart. I seem to use them the most.

Hi Melissa!! Nice to "see" you again!
I've been watching the poll numbers and the Zero choice and the 150-250 choice are always close in numbers. That would be me for sure.......If I get one, I will get 250 before I even know what happened! I don't do dieting well either! LOL! No willpower!
Oh man, I wish there was place with a re-fill bar near me...I'd much rather take them to get re-filled as needed than buy the refills. I've got 2 refills (skin colors) for the markers that seem to be used most but don't plan on purchasing refills for every color I own. I know you can get them refilled online but I don't know if I could be without my markers for that long.
i took my new Copic Wallet to work and the guy that helped me make the ArtBin Storage for Copic, made me a grid to fit inside the new wallet. It holds about 320 markers too. I am so excited about it.. Now I will just keep the new mesh baskets on my work bench when that gets done. YIPPIE!!! Melissa

That is GREAT!! Too bad these companies don't tell us what they plan to make and ask for our input. I'll bet most would have rather had the grid so they can keep their Copics in numerical order . It would have cost them less to offer the grid system than all the mess baskets

I always swore that I wouldn't get started with Copics as I have no artistic ability, but I began taking classes at my local LSS this year and have almost 100 and wanting more. That is where my dollars are going now as I buy little else. Am retired and rarely buy clothes or shoes so I can spend more on craft supplies.
I'm having the same problem. I'm pretty sure that there's no written law that says we HAVE to be fully clothed when we're stamping. Just so the temperature in the room is comfortable for us. teehee...I mean when our clothes wear out we can still stamp...right?
After going to the thread about "Quit spending cold turkey"...something like that, and posting that I was done with Hobby Lobby and Joann's indefinitely...I did sneak in yesterday and LOOKED at the Copics. I tried a red one on a piece of white paper and I didn't care for the way it turned out. I'm sure it was "user error," but I have to tell you that I was soooo happy that I didn't like the way it looked. ON THE OTHER HAND...everyone who uses them and posts in the Gallery do such amazing coloring with them. I am so jealous!!!
Are you talking about buying all the refills for your markers or just the markers????

I hear you for sure.....In a few months I am sure they will come out with something else.... I was on the page with all the Copic Images on it from Google, and a lady on there made her storage out of cut pieces of drain from Home Depot.... Looked really neat and she painted it. Cheap to make also. There is a place in Canada that makes them out of wood with drilled holes in it. I am going to have my friend make me one of those also for my new barn. That way I can keep them there and just use my Copic wallet when I need them "to go" for classes and such. I am thinking it will be a pain though to move them all the time...LOL Maybe I should just keep them in the wallet instead...

I am in the process of getting refills for all of my markers which will take a while to achieve. I have already had to refill a couple of markers. That is the advantage of Copics . You can refill them .
Marianne said in a previous post the she has had some refills for 8-10 years and they are fine. She recommended they be kept in a dark dry place. I keep mine in a repurposed mailing box with the lid closed so they are not in direct light.
I also bought a package of spare nibs in both Super Brush and Chisel tip style. If I ruin a nib I want to be able to replace it quickly. I also have the tweezer to safely remove the nibs.
I would rather prepare ahead than scramble when something goes wrong.
I buy a battery for my car every 5 years. I don't wait for it to die and then I have pay for a battery AND a tow truck to jump start it so I can get to the store for the battery
I also buy all of my Copic products from Oozak

How much are the refills where you live??? I should get the spare nibs and such for back up too. Do you just pull out the used ones and put a new on in the marker with the ink that is already in the marker?? Or do you need to use a refill on them also??? Oozak does seem to have the best prices....We are heading out today and I will see whatelse I can find for them....LOL I will also get all my new markers in my new Copic Wallet... I love it...!

I have not yet had to replace any nibs , but I have them in case I do.
My logic is if I had to replace a nib I would need to put more ink in the marker as the nib soaks up quite a bit.
The only place that offers refills in my area is 35 miles away. I called to ask their price on refills and it is $1.50 per marker and you need an appointment, because the woman who does it only works part time. We can't leave the markers there and pick them up later. So buying my own refills makes more sense .
You get 10 + refills from a bottle and it is a little over $5 to buy one.

I've got about 90...and counting. I resisted Copics for years but I just couldn't stand it, I saw too many beautifully Copic-colored images, and I just had to have them.

So I am going to America in the new year - with a voucher how much are copics at michaels etc., where is the best place to buy them? Where do you get the vouchers?
I think it might be a chance to grow my collection
I have 90. For 6 months I was holding at 75 but when Michaels started carrying them I added on using coupons and then they had them on sale for 50% off and I bought more.
I have refills for all my pens. Back in July I finally bit the bullet and bought a bunch of refills and now as soon as I buy a new marker I buy the refill. The closest refill station is about 3 minutes away and charges $2.25. I decided I'd rather have my own refills instead of making the trip.
Question - for those of you that have them ALL - do you really use all the colors?

Your cheapest place will be ordering on-line from Oozak. If you place an order before 3:30 Eastern Standard time ( we have 5 time zones) he will ship it out the "same day". You will get them in 3-4 days !
Register on the site to get the best price .
What state will you be in ? Then I can tell you what time zone you will be in and how to calculate you time from Oozak

By voucher do you mean discount coupons?
Copics at Michael's are $6.95 each at regular price. Discount coupons are generally only good to buy one item. That would not work if you want to buy numerous items at once such as a few Copics.
We sign up on line to get the coupons, or they are in the newspaper, but we can send them to you if we know which stores will be close to you .

Oh Beverly -- You have me laughing out loud! It's just like I hate spending perfectly good crafting money on things like the mortgage!
I have lots of copics and love them. I rarely use anything else for coloring unless I am preparing cards for classes. I have close to 200 I believe... and still sometimes don't have the color I want!
Are you talking about buying all the refills for your markers or just the markers????
I am talking about buying refills for the markers I use the most. There are some colors I don't use as often and would probably take those in and have my LSS refill them. I use my lighter colors A LOT and those would pay for itself to buy my own refills. I am pretty much done buying markers. Just need a few more to fill in gaps. When I first started taking lessons, we get 3 markers with the class fee and they would be whatever colors we were using in class that day, so had a pretty random start to my collection.
I dont have any, and probably never will. They are expensive, but aside frome that, I don't think I could use them anyway, I am a painter, butI played around with these at a craft shop once and like a previous poster said, I could not get the hang of them at all. I admire all you who can color and blend and all that with them! It's really beautiful! I usually just stamp with colored ink, I don't color my things in much.

Sorry, yes I meant coupon...
I am going to Los Angeles, Los Vegas, new Orleans and San fransisco. I know I could order them online and have them sent to a hotel, but we will only be in each place for about 4 days so any delay in shipping and I will have to leave them behind (how terrible would that be o_o!)
I filled in the charts today! I love this site just for keeping track of what I have... now I wish I had a smart phone to shop with but as I buy most of mine on line it will still be a great tool especially for the refills.

I currently have all 180 Ciao Copics. I did a lot of research for taking the plunge and decided Ciao was the way to go for me. The have the same nibs as the Sketch, plus cost less and take up less space. I just have to deal with them rolling across the table from time to time. And refilling more often, but I can handle that. I plan to add more each year when they release more colors in the Ciao.
To be honest, I have not used them yet, but I am confident that once I get started, there will be no stopping me. I love to color, and am very creative. Since I work full time, take care of my family, and am working on my Bachelor's Degree, I don't have much free time these days. So, it will be awhile before I have the time to devote to learning to color with Copics.
Another reason I decide to get into Copics is that because you can refill them, and relace the nibs whenever necessary, they are really a lifetime investment. And if my son starts to show he has an artistic ability as he gets older, once he is old enough to be responsible with the copics, I do plan to share. He's only 5 now, so it will be awhile.
Once I decided to take the plunge, I figured out that it would actually be more cost effective to get them in the large sets, instead of piecemeal. So, I saved up some money. Oozak does have the best prices most of the time, although I timed it just right and got a better price from Dick Blick during one of their better sales of the year. but since Blick doesn't get newly released sets for quite a long time, the yearly Ciao release gets bought from Oozak.
I do look forward to when I am less busy, and when i live somewhere closer to civilization. then I can take a couple classes somewhere, watch every tutorial I can find, to learn and then hone my skill.
Okay, so I really should get off SCS and work on my ANTH334 homework.
3 markers with the class fee is great. We use to get 2 and the class was $25.00
