I went to Michaels today and they had them in! I got the last one. They did let me use a 40% off coupon. I had ordered one from QVC, with the extra alphabet cartridge, but this was a better deal. Also, to let you all know, it does cut through SU paper without a problem. Just set the cutter to the highest setting. Now I have no excuse to get my scrapboking done!
I just looked online at Michaels website to see if there's a coupon, and they show the Cricut being in stores May 5th? Now I'm bummed...no coupon, no Cricut, lol. Now you REALLY have to get crackin' and show us some projects, Amber!!
I was able to use a Joann's 50% off coupon yesterday...yeah!!! I spoke with a clerk the other day and they will be in the ad and on sale next week for $279.00 so don't plan on using a coupon next week...it will be on sale :( I am sure that was a planned thing! so if you want to get it do it this week with a hobby lobby or joann coupon...
Congrats on getting one - you will have to let us all know if it is worth the $$ and it does whatthey are claiming it does!! Was at Michaels today and they had jsut set up the display! Of course you can only touch a mock keyboard - they have the unit encased in the display - definately should be able to test it out at that price!!! $299.00!! YOWSA - not in my budget - I joked with my daughter - hey Mother's day is coming up!! (LOL - she is 12!!) One of the workers said - yeah - you need to take out a second morgtage for that one!
Also - our Michaels now refuses to take the online AC moore coupons - not that I was buying anything expensive but it peeved me! THey should at least post a sign - bet they will loose some business with that decision! If only AC moore was closer to me! I would rather shop there anyways - but the cost of gas right now makes Michaels my only place choice right now!!!

Usually you can still use a coupon- they just take the 40% off of the regular price... awesome to get it with a 50% off- I totally forgot I had that coupon in my email :(
Michaels in Jacksonville has NEVER accepted any of the other craft stores' online coupons. They really have taken a hit this year. I was with Michaels for 7 years and they only had JoAnns to deal with. Within a 3 month period, AC Moore and Hobby Lobby BOTH came to town!!! WOW! Michaels really took a financial blow! They (upper management) started really getting the store managers all worked up and their attitudes forced 79% of the workforce (me included), to quit.
The online thing was okay for about 3 months here. However, I was in Michaels yesterday and a woman left over $1000 in flowers laying in a cart with a bunch of wedding stuff because the clerk wouldn't accept a coupon (online) from AC Moore. The woman had spent 3 hours shopping. She only wanted 40% off one measly set of wedding favors (savings of about $. Michaels blew the sale... Really greedy managers. Their bottom line will hurt because that was a $1000 sale blown for $8! Stupid. Really stupid.
I also like the cricut. I got to play with one at a Scrapbook show in Orlando last year. I'm sooooo jealous you got one! LOL. Enjoy!

As I was reading through this, I kept wondering what AC Moore was. I checked out the website, and the closest one is 373.6 miles away. I guess they haven't reached Texas/Louisiana yet?
The AC Moore is on Atlantic Blvd. by Kernan Rd in a new shopping center beside the BRAND NEW Kohls! There is also a Walmart there along with about 7 restaurants! It all sprang up in December... Next week there is a grand opening off Airport Road of a new Michaels, AC Moore and a Hobby Lobby is also "supposed" to open up there! What a mess...
Oh, FYI all the small JoAnns closed here. I know of only 3 in Jacksonville now that the St. John's Center near UNF opened. Are you from Jacksonville?
Did they let you pre-order it then? Or does your Michaels already have them in stock?
our Michael's had them in stock on Saturday...the Joann's coupon I had was from the one I get in the mail...they had a 50% off coupon for Friday & Saturday (Daisy Days or something like that)...I lucked out because I had won some money on the radio and had a M's gift card from Christmas that I had not used so I was able to get it...I have yet to take it out of the box...I have not seen a demo so I want to wait until I can see it up close...I have been looking at this thing for a while and have really been wanting one and I could not pass up the 50% off...

I moved away about 2 and half years ago but my Aunt lives their and I visit often. Like last week!!! Every time I come to visit their is so much more! I did not know about the AC Moore. I will need to visit the next time I come to town. I went to one in Maine and it was awesome. Different things than JoAnns and Michaels. Thanks for the help!
I saw the Cricut at our Michael's Friday, but they had a sign saying they wouldn't accept any coupons on it. Not that I would have bought it anyway!
This is gonna be another Viking debacle, lol. Some Michaels take coupons, some don't. Some Michaels have 'em, some don't. I just checked at ours here in Michaels and they have no clue about the Cricut at all....you'd think they'd know if they were expecting it to be available there on the 5th...that's this week!
i actually haven't taken it out of the box yet...i am cleaning out my craft cabinets and put some stuff up on ebay, so until that stuff sells and i clear it out, the machine will have to stay in the box. it's way to technical and delicate to leave out in the open for little 4 year old hands to get to!
I have only been able to play with it a little bit (I have a 2 month old that takes my time). I LOVE it. It will cut out letters for my scrapbooking titles, and I don't have to mess with any dies, or stamp letters and then cut them out. I have a list of things I want to make (I will post some pics if I figure out how). I am also using it to cut a bunch of flowers for my baby announcements, I don't have to sit and punch them all out. For me, I have to find things that save time, or nothing will get done.
How much are the cartidges for all the different fonts and shapes???
I really like the selection! This is a great investment piece of equipment!
If you think of the cost involved in a diecutting system like sizzix, or quickutz or zipemate...this is a grea talternative. Storage for the machine and cartridges would be a lot more simple then all of them!

I hope this makes it up to Canada soon!
Miles of Smiles

the cartridges at Mike's are around $90 (pre-coupon)...I am heading out tomorrow to pick up the box/bag/tag cartridge ...got the okay from DH so I am on it...that cartridge was a big reason I became interested in the machine...
SPV,
I would love to know how the bag/box cartridge is. That is the next one on my list. It is hard to tell from the pictures. I hope you have lots of fun with it
I just saw a demo at archivers on the cricut! I watched for half an hour and then came back and watched again! It is so awesome! I almost bought one, but thought I could wait till it comes to michaels and use a coupon. I have never seen anything work so cool! For those of you already have one you are so LUCKY!
I saw a demo with one today at Archivers. It came with a cartridge that had both alphabets, shading, and different shapes. They had a lot of other cartridges you could also purchase, $89.99 each. She said that the cutting pad can be used about 30 times before it needs replaced, $9.99 each. I loved the idea of being able to adjust the size from 1" to 5'5"!!!! I think I want one. Stopped at Michaels after Archivers and they also had one, encased to glass but there wasn't anyone around it. At Archivers they are having a Big Make it Take it weekend and promoting it big time.
How did you all get to use a coupon? Mine said NO! Here's my question: Did any of you buy it on sale at $279 AND use a coupon? If so, I need to know because I am going to contact corporate.
I think most people got them with coupons last week when they were not on sale...I know my M's will not accept coupons for on-sale items...so no one can buy it with a coupon this week...they will have to wait until they are not on sale.
JoCanuck, the Cricut hit Regina's Michaels already. the beast costs $400, currently marked down 12.5% to $350. the cartridges for the other fonts and stuff cost $120 each.
Is everyone still loving this machine? I bought the Xyron PC at ACMoore, even though I had planned to get the Cricut initially. I got the PC home and it was USED already! I am taking it back, and seriously reconsidering upgrading to the Cricut...should I? I am concerned about the costs down the line, buying the cartridges, etc, although ACMoore has them, so that's a good way to go, but still $50 for a cartridge, I guess not much less than if I was using Quickutz, right?
I got my Cricut at Michaels at the beginning of the month, used a Joann's 40% off coupon (before they were printed with can't use on Cricut) and it wasn't on sale that week at Michaels, nor did they have a coupon that week.
Have purchased a few of the cartiridges with the 40% off coupons from Mike's & Joann's first they said I couldn't use the internet coupon but then they took it.
My Favorite Cartridge (one I have played with the most) is Tags, Boxes and more. Love the little boxes, my niece loved the little purse, thinking I can call this a business expense by using the boxes in my workshops. Hoping to play with it more on this long weekend.
Have managed to find time to do a few titles for my scrapbooks. So fast, easy to make shadows etc. You can cut letters from 1 inch to 5 1.2 inches. And yes it cuts SU and Bazzill paper. Not sure how long the mats will hold up as I haven't had that much time to use yet.
Had thought about buying a Wishblade - reasons for not: Would mean a new laptop(and we just had to replace our main computer), not as portable. Plus side would be you can use fonts you all ready have.
Learning curve with the Cricut is about zero. Plug and go. I also have purchased the Jasmine, beyond Birthdays, Base Camp and I have a bunch of coupons for Michaels so I see a road trip this weekend!! But our Michaels is a hour away so I will probably take the kids so I can get more than one cartridge!!!! Hoping to complete the collection and maybe get the bag to haul my tool (toy) around!!
Have a safe Memorial Day
Hugs, Debbie Fagnant
