Default I need input on a good silver ink pad

I am making holiday cards for someone and they want silver and pomegranite. lol Any input would be appreciated. I will be using clear EP over the silver if that helps.

For metallic colours, I like the Tsukineko Brilliance. They have a couple of shades of silver.

Brillance are great--you want the Starlite Silver and not the other silver as its much brighter than the other one.

Another vote for Brilliance...it's the best metallic ink I've ever used. The Starlight Silver is a very pretty traditional silver color. But, I also love Platinum Planet. It's lighter than the Starlight and shows up really well on dark paper.

I also love Brilliance stamp pads, but for metallic silver I prefer Encore. They have the best metallic inks available in MHO.

I prefer the encore, but if you are going to go to the trouble to emboss, I think silver ep would give the most silvery look. Eileen

I agree with Paula in GA but want to add that, in my experience, Encore ink must be embossed (not just heat set). I know this is what the OP plans to do but other readers might not want to emboss.

My LSS has cubes/spots/dewdrops of Encore, Brilliance and other inks so I usually buy them for a test run and then get the full-size pad if I really like the color. (The smaller pads are great for crops and small stamps so I don't mind keeping them).

Agreed - I used Encore to make a card for my brother, and threw a scrap of it into a pile. A year later, it still smeared!! It's lovely when embossed, but otherwise it never really "sets." Brilliance all the way!!

hmm well, my Encore "sets" just fine. I haven't used teh brilliance metallics, but I've not had any trouble with the gold or silver encores.
Good luck deciding. Interesting thread.

I'd vote for Encore over Brilliance, especially if you're going to be embossing. I have all the Encore metallic colours in full-size pads and love them. And I have to say, I've never had an ongoing problem with smudging  . Maybe because we have lower humidity? It might smudge in the first 5 minutes if I forget, but after that it's usually pretty good.

I've never had a problem with my Encore smudging either. I made my Christmas cards last year with the Encore silver and gold and didn't have any issues.

I've always used encore and haven't had a smearing problem. In fact, one of my teenage dd's high school groups used the silver pads to make little holiday cards to sell and there wasn't a smearing problem...and they made almost 200 of them. I wonder if it's either humidity or how thickly the ink is glopped on the stamp that makes a difference. I use a pretty light hand on the ink.

If you are going to be embossing anyway....why not stamp with Versamark and emboss with silver. They have some wonderful silver EP now, including pewter.

Encore with embossing powder. It really helps it stand out. also, if you don't emboss, the ink takes forever to dry, if it ever does.

I've had issues with the Encore smearing if it's not embossed as well. It does look nice when it is embossed. I like Brilliance because it dries.
