Ouch! I have one fairly close but I still have never been there.
They are horrible on gift cards too. I ordered one for my brother as he was talking about getting a couch around Christmas. They charged me almost $10 for a $50 gift card for shipping a processing. I warn everyone now not to buy them, just give cash!

These rates make SU look fabulous!
$10 processing for a GIFT CARD????
Speechless...

At least they would ship it. My sister tried to buy me a crate and barrel gift card- and they wouldn't ship it. So she threw in a 60 cent orange peeler, and paid to ship that. I got a box a little bigger than a shoebox, filled with paper wrapping, and a teeny tiny orange peeler and the gift card. I was laughing hysterically!

If you want to try and look on the brighter side of the whole deal....
You could get some girlfriends together and make a day trip of it on a weekend or even stay overnight. Split the cost of the motel/hotel and gas and you may still come out ahead. Especially if you have someone in the same town that you can stay with.
IKEA has the worst shipping prices. I was going to order a small table and chair set (for the kids)costing about $80. But I decided not to when shipping was way more than the set cost. It seemed crazy!
They aren't the only ones. We were looking at buying a large cabinet storage thingy from Target and the shipping was more than the product, which was was around $200.
Location: somewhere between S.K. and waiting for both kids to be in school.

Shipping is $18.98!
So i dropped the # to 4 to see what that would be...
It went up to $19.14!!
Has anyone ever ordered these online???
Yikes.
It still makes the price only $5.57 each, but ACK! for an item that costs $1.99!
:(
you should see if someone local to a store can pick them up for you and then ship em to ya, probably cheaper then going thru the store. I myself live near an IKEA and have done just that for someone In B.C. I am in Ontario. If ever you need something try contacting me first I have no problem checking out shipping and prices for you.
All I know about IKEA, is that when we ordered chairs for our office they told us that shipping would be $200. That still made the chairs cheaper than any other place we could've gotten them. In addition to that, they said we could ship up to 100 items for that same shipping price, but we didn't want to buy 94 other things from their store. It depends on whether they're trucking it over or shipping it over. In our case they would load all our things up and drive it over in a truck.
There is going to be a new Ikea opening up the 25th of July in Portland, Oregon, which is a little over 4 hours from me... I've never been to one either, so I have the bug to go and visit. Will turn it into an overnight shopping adventure and also visit scrapbooking craft stores along the way... the nearest Micheals is 3 hours away, so I'm used to driving, I know the gas and stuff... but have to figure that in and get the most out of the trip I can... Anything I should be looking for, for storage, etc.?? for stamping while I'm at Ikea...I would "hate" to wander around...lol..lol and miss something I "have" to have....lol
Oh, I forgot to add, that I find a lot of store gift cards at Safeway and mail them myself, after Stampin' a card of course... Safeway has a board of different amounts, different kinds of stores.... I buy my "Barnes & Noble" gift cards there to send to my daughter. She can use them instore or online...

K-Mart has a variety of gift cards too, and I think Walgreens might have them. I needed a GC and was about to make a special trip but found a display at K-Mart and got it there.
I wanted to ordered four bookmarks - 1 inch by 7 inches, and of course, flat. They wanted $9 for shipping in shoebox-sized box when they could have mailed them in an envelope for 41 cents....
And I've never been to IKEA, but I've heard it's fabulous, and I'm only an hour away!
