Default Ken Oliver Crafts Colorburst

I was intrigued by these dry paints so I bought several colors but much to my chagrin my little practice paper needs help. Hence I go to the only site I know where women help women so beautifully! HELP! What paper is best, how much water? Tutorials anywhere? Thanks gals.

From what I've gathered on youtube, a thick watercolor paper is best. The amount of water is entirely up to you depending on how bright you want the color . I've seen people sprinkle it and then use a spray bottle for the most part so you can get those great swirls going on. The less water you use, the more swirly and abstract it will look and the color will pop. I tend to use a 140 lb watercolor paper from Michael's. I think it's called Artist Loft. I've had good results using that with other watercolor mediums. I don't have the particular dry inks you are talking about though. I like Catherine Pooler's tutorial , https://youtu.be/dZGEotejDQc

I used this link 3 times, and I get a Stevia Wiki kind of video. Not the Catherine Pooler tutorial.

I played with a few different paper samples here:

And did you see this tutorial in our Resources section?

I tried all kinds of paper that I had on hand. Card stock buckled a bit. The best so far is watercolor paper. I tried thin glossy paper and photo paper and they were less impressive.

Dina has an on-site tutorial with loads of ideas here: Watercolor Powders Tutorial - Splitcoaststampers
Now the page has refreshed, I see the link has already been posted .
I use a good weight of regular cardstock and have got good results with that as well as watercolour paper. I've been least happy with glossy cardstock but I've seen other people achieve amazing results using it.

Here's Ken Oliver's youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/livecookcraftcreate/videos

Other youtube videos:https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...er+color+burst

I see a lot of people tape their paper down when doing wet work to keep it flat.
