MINERAL SPIRITS

I recently read stamps&cars post regarding Gamsol in Canada and intend to buy some the next time I'm in Kelowna. In the meantime, because I couldn't find it anywhere I bought mineral spirits I found at Home Depot. They are not odorless and not artist grade but seem to be working. Can anyone tell me why I SHOULDN'T be using it?

i have the sma problem as you ,i cant find the oderless m anywhere here !!! i did buy sone terpentine and it works but man it sticks :((

but i cant get the oderless m sent to me couse its considerd as hazard meterial so i dont really know what to do with my brand new prismacolors :confused:

I use "Low Odor Thinners" by Daler-Rowney from Walmart. It seems to work fine--I have never had the "real" stuff so I don't know the comparison.

You could check my gallery and see what you think. For $3 US I think it is worth it.

I just went and looked at your gallery.....what a bunch of beautiful cards...esp the polka dot one (which I commented on). Based on your info I'm just going to stick with the stuff I bought at Home Depot

Being Canadian myself I have discussed this same problem with my sister who still lives in Canada. We have found a different variety of mineral spirits that just rock and you can find it in Canada - it is made by Pebeo. I hope this helps with your dilemna - I know that my sister had trouble tracking it down at first, but she ended up at an art supply store and they had it. It really works beautifully and I believe it is not as hazardous to your health as the variety found in your hardware stores.
