I have been cleaning my stash and stamping areas and have come to the realization that I am a ribbon hoarder. I am looking for some good ideas of ways to use some of the 300+ rolls I have. What I have found it that I tend to use my whites and cream colored ones a lot but not the colored or patterned ones. What can I use all of this ribbon for? My DH would have a fit if he saw all of this!!!
I am going through the same thing as you...cleaning out my stash. I have a huge bag of ribbon I am putting in our garage sale in a couple of weeks, and what doesn't sell, I will donate to my kid's teachers. I know it will be used and appreciated by them.
I made a pact with myself to not buy any more ribbon unless it is SU that will match everything else. I've had ribbon for years and never used it. I'm not going there any more!
If you really want to use it up, you could try making some ribbon flowers. That's about the only thing I can think of right now.
My sweet son who is on disability for a back injury (he may not be able to walk soon if they dont get the surgery done) is using my extra ribbon to make barretts and is selling them on line for some $$$. He has NO income right now and cannot work. Disability takes forever to get going...poor thing is several states away from me so I am little help. He asked me if I have any ribbon to spare so I am trying to get some together to send him.
blessings.
Where does he sell them? I have found some info on how to make them into barrettes and headbands but didn't know if there is much of a market for that.
there was supposed to be a smiley face after my post; I don't know why it didin't show up. *insert frowny face here* I didn't want you to get the wrong tone from my post; I was joking (well, mostly; I'm a ribbon hoarder myself) *insert smiley face here*
You could use it to wrap presents with... that's what a friend of mine did. She wrapped up this tiny box in tons and tons of ugly ribbon (but the recipient liked it). It would also work on a gift bag...just tie bows and bows of ribbon on the handles.
If you can't use it all I saw a great post on the announcments forum. There is a new non profit that is asking for donations of supplies. They are doing stamping with under priviledged and disabled people. I thought I had a lot of ribbon but you have me beat! Good luck.

Amber, PM me your addy or his. I have literally THOUSANDS of yards of ribbon from the Offray factory outlet. I'm happy to send a box to your DS.
Have you ever altered a paint can? You can use up a ton of ribbon adding it to the handle! Print, patterns, plain, etc....it's all good!
The ribbon wreath is also a great way to use it up fast.
I've made both and they are really easy to do to occupy spare time. I like to make them while watching tv. It's just something to keep your hands busy but not nec. your mind ;)
Either one make great gifts for friends or relatives.

Here is an excellent example ~ Bow Ribbon Wreath
She used all sorts of fun patterns/plain ribbons and tied bows around the ring. The ring can be wood, plastic or metal. I like to use old coat hangers ~ they are heavy so it holds it's shape well but still flexible enough to bend easily.
This ribbon wreath is similar but it is knotted ribbon instead of bows....Knotted Ribbon Wreath.
Either are lots of fun and very easy to make.
