new picture tutorial embossing with the nestabilities
I had several people ask me about how to emboss with the nestabilities so I did a picture tutorial on my blog It is step by step with pictures.I hope this helps some of you if you have had questions.Go to www.diecutlady.typepad.com
I also have some pictures on using the nestabilites to cut pictures and make mats too.
Let me know what you think and if you have suggestions to improve it let me know.

I ordered the complete set off Papertrey ink!!!!! I am not sure when they will ship. I had two orders in with cutathome but they were so back logged I cancelled with them as I was getting to impatient! :( I liked the savings with cutathome but don't think they should "sell" a product they don't have in stock.
I just got some to from scrapbookoutpost.com they have them IN stock with free shipping on a qualifying order, and I am subbing because I love/need the picture tutorial above

I've always done A-B-B for embossing, along with the tan mat and some cardstock shims. Some folks don't put the cutting side toward the C plate to extend the life of that plate, as it's more expensive and harder to find than the B plates.

Okay, I got my nesties and gueess what? I should have read this b/c I have not polymer mat! Dang............. so after reviewing this: it appears I basically need some type of polymer mat or red plumbers gasket (what is this?). Can I buy either of these items locally, hardward, craft stores? I hate to have to place another order.

Yes! You can buy it locally. I got mine at Lowe's. It's called a Plumbers Gasket and it is in the plumber section (imagine that) in a plastic see through bag. Mine came with two gaskets...one is 1/16* and the other is 1/8*. The package and the gaskets are about 6* square. I used the 1/16* in my Bug and it worked great with brass stencils. I don't have the nesties yet, but I have heard it works very well. Near the beginning of this thread there is a photo of the gaskets in the package, but I don't recall exactly where. Maybe you could find it with a search?? Good luck!

You need the mat to emboss. You can have fun playing and cut out without the mat.
I got my nesties yesterday and tried them today (with my CB) and they are working great. I need to experiment on the embossing as it did not come out as well.
Subscribing since I'm going to be getting my Cuttlebug soon.
Seems very odd to me though, that the machine requires a polymer mat to emboss...a function I imagine everyone buys it for, and yet it doesn't come with it...very odd.

Well it comes with everything needed to emboss with the CB products so that makes sense. Nesties are not CB products so............ makes sense, that someone is going to make a little bit from using the product in the CB.

OH! I wasn't aware that Nesties were another brand, and yes, then that makes complete sense
Thanks for all the great info! I have a cuttlebug but haven'thad much time to play. Now I can't wait. I want to check out the cuttlebugitis thread (I heard it's a big one), but don't know how to get there! Can anyone help me? I'm really new to this stuff so be gentle! Thanks!
Nestabilities were made for the Spellbinder's Wizard. If you want to check out all the rest of their great dies go to www.spellbinders.us or www.franticstampers.com. I own the Wizard and the dies are fabulous. The machine uses the dies and embossing folders from all other machines too. You can also emboss brass stencils with it. Can you do that with the Cuttlebug? Just curious.

Yes, you can! I love that it will do that. I've only done it a couple times, but it turns out pretty good.
gave in and preodered the newest wizard lowest price is at paperdreams
with the money i saved , i bought some mores nesties and got free shipping
cuttleug works but it is a pain to get the sandwiches just right!
I use the black or purple rubber mat that came with the Sizzix "texturz" kit... the one that has the extra black plastic pad for their embossed texture backgrounds. I think you can get this kit at sizzix.com. HTH. I also can cut the chipboard from Just4funcrafts.com on the Cuttlebug and Big Kick with my Nesties....
I am new to the cuttlebug and the nestabilities. I haven't had the patience to read all the posts but I thought I would share what I have learned int he last week or so from friends and internet research.
1. You can use a coupon to buy at Michaels. I got one forwarded from my sister for July 4 sale. Its for 50% off . if you contact me I will forward the email to you. Can't promise I will get everyone, as I don;t man the pc 24/7 but will try my best.
2. I was told about a website at the weekly SU class I go to by one of the gals.
Its www(dot)cutathome(dot)com . The dot spelled out is and actual dot. I know I have posted more than 3 times but won't let type websites. you sign up for monthly nesletter and every month you get a 40% off coupon that you can use on nestabilities(the most expensive one you're ordering from them) this includes the sets. I think are the biggest bargain. As you can only use 1 coupon per house hold. And they send you a coupon every month.
I just bought the rectangle set today. Its my first one.
3. When using white core paper in the embossing envelopes you can sand the ridges and gives it kind of a distressed, shabby look. Very cute.
So far I am having a great experience with the cuttlebug and the nestabilities.
I do have a question though. While searching the web I found a video. can't remember by who or where. But she stated to label the b plates. One emboss and the other cut So your only really damaging 1 not both when cutting. Has anyone have any idea where to find this video again. I thought really great info. to bad I wasn't fully paying attention and watched more closely.
Hi, does anyone know if the nestabilities will work with the regular sizzix machine? Thanks for any info.
If you go to www.youtube.com you can see me demonstrate EVERY CONSUMER Die Cutting machine in the same class as the Wizard..... this includes the cuttlebug, the big shot, the big kick, the revolution and the origional sizzix press..... Along with the Wizard as well.
When you get on you tube just search Spellbinders dies...... and you will find the segments.
