I wish I could afford to get all the nesties shapes in all sizes in both scalloped and straight edge right away, but for right now, I will probably have to go with just one shape set with its matching scallop. So I'm wondering which shape / size I should start with. Which one (circle, oval, rectangle, etc) do you get the most use out of? I know it will be different for everyone, but I'm hoping that I will get a consensus that will help me make up my mind. TIA
I use my scalloped squares the most. You can piece them together to make rectangles as well.
I didn't buy the plain squares bc you can easily just cut with a paper cutter to fit inside. It's a bit of work but I don't mind and that way I was able to buy two sets of scallops.
I love my full circle set. I find I use circles A LOT in my scrapbooking and cards. Check out the cards you've done and see if you have a shape "theme" i.e., do you do mostly squares, rectangles, etc? That should help you decide where to start!
Actually, I mostly use squares and rectangles now because that's what I can cut with my paper trimmer. I think I would use circles and ovals if I had the ability to cut them.

I only have the squares (for now)! Also, in case you are wondering, a great place to buy them is Ucutathome. Sign up for their VIP 40% off coupon. You can purchase a whole set (large and small and classic and scallop) for $51 plus s&h. You can only use the coupon once a month so it will help keep your spending in line. I will be using this month's coupon to get the circles.
I started with the squares, but did the once-a-month thing through ucutathome and now after having them all...I would suggest starting with the circles....I seem to use them the most.
And I honestly wouldn't bother with one little set at once at $20+/each if you can afford to just go with the complete sets for $57 with shipping each month. I find myself using ALL of the 4 parts of those sets to get just the perfect size every time.
Or find a friend and share the full sets for 8 months...that way you would get two small sets a month and be paying almost the same as you would for one!

I started off with the scalloped circles, and scalloped ovals. I used a plastic template I have to trace and cut the different size plain circles and ovals to use inside the scalloped nesties.
It was a little trouble to handcut them, but it saved me $40 for the time being.

I just ordered my full set of circles (they were in stock).
I have the oval and the rectangle. I use them but each time I wish I have the square or circle. Not for the regular cut but for the scallops. I can trim squares but can't do scallops. I have a die cut machine that does scallops but it doesn't emboss.
Hi Susan!
Waving at you here in Maryland. This is Carole and we shared a few orders from our favorite demo!
I have to say that I am absolutely 100% in love with all the nesties. I have two of the new releases on pre-order right now (Labels 1 and Labels 2) but my first set was the complete rectangle set from Cut At Home. I go for that one more than any other. I do also have the circles and ovals - complete sets and am finding them very handy as well. I've wanted something to cut circles for the longest time. I have a Cuttlebug and am so happy I purchased it. Jump into the wild, wonderful world of Nesties!! I know you won't be sorry.
If you already do rectangles and squares with your paper trimmer, I agree with Jennifer R that just getting the scalloped rectangles and scalloped squares would be a good start if you can only afford to get one set at a time. I originally bought a bunch of scallop circle punches and found that I don't use circles a whole lot. I think ovals would be more usable than circles, but that's just my opinion. I too went through ucutathome.com and used the 40% off coupon and got my sets one at a time. However, the very first set I got was the large plain ovals. The next month I got the large scalloped ovals. And then I realized that I was spending more money in the long run buying them separately. I think buying them as a package deal over buying each one separately saves you enough money to buy an additional single set, like $21 or something. In other words, it's more economical to just get them in a package of sets, like all the ovals, or all the circles, etc. rather than the small plain ovals one month, then small scalloped ovals the next. Anyway, good luck with whatever you choose. They are definitely nice to have!
Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply. Well... after reading all your favorites and considering your opinions, I decided to go for the ovals set. I figure that I already use rectangles and squares a lot so it might be nice to try something different. I got them at Cut At Home and used the 40% off coupon so my total price was just $57 with shipping. And I just sold a bunch of my old SU stuff on the BST forum and made just about $57 total so this ends up being almost a freebie for me. I'm so excited to get these. Next month I will have to get another set - and make another decision about which one then.
