Default NESTABILITY PENDANT PROBLEM

I'm having a problem with the new Nestability Pendant dies - bought the Fleur de Lis pendant dies and they cut well enough with an extra shim but then I can't get the paper out of the die without tearing it. Spent about 20 mins poking the various openings from the back side and managed to get all but one of the filigrees freed but every time one of them is so firmly stuck that it tears. Any ideas?????

Okay, try this - lay a piece of waxed paper over your die and then your cardstock. Cut/emboss the pendant and the waxed paper should help everything come out easily. The pendant dies are so intricate and detailed that it can be hard to get them out of the die once you emboss. I have also used my dry embossing stylus to help nudge them out too!

Hopefully you are using those pendant dies to make a project for the contest?

HTH:-D

I bought these same sets based on Becca's reveal - if you figure out what she did, or have any other tips to share - Please post!

I've got mangled bits and pieces all over my table - I think the medallion is actually 2 of the squares with a cut from one corner to the center so you can fold them into half rounds - just haven't quite got exactly where the folds should be just yet. Her blog said a tutorial was coming soon but when I posted a question asking about it the reply came back that she made the boxes from scratch and doesn't have any tutorial to send :(

Okay ladies, I will see what I can come up with, too! That is really beautiful. Right now, I have the In Spades, Eyelet and Kaleidoscope Pendants. I know Becca has a tutorial on making something similar with a different die template. I will keep looking.

Plus I have a box that is already made, you just alter it. I got it from Taylored Expressions. I have something to do this morning but I will see what I can come up with this afternoon. I always love a challenge!!

Okay here is a link to a tutorial Becca did for how to make a flower medallion. I would think that you do something similar with the pendants. But I am going to experiement later today with it!

Hi Ladies,
I'm in the process of creating tutorials both for the Fleur de Lis Project that I posted on my blog last month and for the nifty Ornament Boxes that I created for the most recent release. I'm off to CHA for the next week, but it's a priority when I return. I expect that the Fleur Project will be first since those dies are shipping now. I'm so tickled that you all are interested in those creations!! Stay tuned!!

Well I think I've figured out one of the layers..... I've cut two of the pendants, cut a slit in each up to the center point, scored and folded them like in the photos, then used glue dots to hold the pleats together and then to attach the two halves to each other. Unlike Becca, I'm not very good at explaining what I did, so I'll attach photos.

I'm having a terrible time with my fleur dis le die as well! Mine isn't cutting in a couple of areas around the outside. I've tried shimming several layers, using the tan mat, and it still doesn't cut! anyone else experience this or have a remedy?

I'm thinking I got a dud! I have several spellbinder dies, and have never had a problem til now!

I had the same problem and I called Customer Service. They said that it is such an intricate die that to get a clean cut you need to run it through the machine then rotate it 90* and run it through a second time. Then emboss as usual. Worked like a charm for me. She also said that misting the cardstock lightly with water before cutting would help, but I did not do this.

The Pendant dies are very intricate so cut once, give the die a 90 degree turn and cut again. Then emboss with the tan mat. I just love the detail of the dies so I don't mind the extra step for such beauty!!:-D

Well here's what I came up with in the end...I'm pretty happy with it, but I can't wait for Becca's tutorial because I had a heck of a time glue dotting it all together. There must be an easier way that's escaping me! For the smaller layer, I used the smaller square pendant, cut it to the center and accordion folded it.

Teri, can I ask where you got that beautiful little jewel piece you used in the middle? It's gorgeous and works so very well with this project!!

Oh, and your work itself is beautiful as well - I'm green with envy!

I used a snowflake brad, the package has this website on it: www.creativeimpressions.com, but I bought them at my local LSS. Then I just glued a pink rhinestone in the center.

I've tried all the suggestions above with the exception of misting my C/S and my die does not cut through in all of the places. Very disheartening. I don't have any trouble with any of my other Nestabilities - including the Kaleidescope one. I'm thinking I have a dud, too. I sent an email to Spellbinders customer service. We'll see what they come back with.

I've got a dead spot in my Pendant die also but if I give it the quarter turn and run it through again like the suggestions above it seems to take care of the problem. Haven't had a chance to try the waxed paper trick yet but hope to play some more this weekend.

Wow, I had better try mine this weekend. I loved them so much when I saw them on Becca's site. I was down at Marco's in Dayton and they had received their shipment, but hadn't put the stock out yet. They let me look and I got one but haven't even opened the package yet.

Cindy over at stampingscrapping.com put together this video on how to successfully cut and remove the CS from the intricate fleur de lis die.

Hope this helps...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRHa-555N18

That's a great video! I just got that poker-picker upper thing and I hadn't thought to use it for my pendant dies. Another thing that works good is just a push pin. We used that during our demos for CHA. Love all the great ideas you guys come up and are willing to share!! Thanks so much!

I tried running it through with waxed paper between the die and the cardstock and it worked like a dream - the piece popped out very easy afterward - THANKS for that tip! Of course now I've got to find a use for that pretty cut piece of wax paper

I'd love to help but am having some 'issues' with my new dies also. Sticking and just not cutting through. I've tried the waxpaper trick and rotating the die for second cut. After all that fussing I get frustrated and end up using my CB for cutting and the wizard for embossing. sigh.

I too am having major problems with my fleur de lis die, I have tried rotating it and putting it through again and again... up to 6 times. I've spritzed it with water, shimmed it and nothing is working at all. It's so frustrating because when I run it through my cuttlebug it works beautifully when I try with my raspberry wizard it just will not cut all the way through no mater how many times I try. I've ordered a whole bunch of the new dies, hopefully they will work in the wizard because I specifically bought the wizard for the spellbinder dies. Have contacted Spellbinders who just told me to shim it and spritz it.

Hi Debbie,

I've tried all the suggestions here and the die does not cut out any of the corners nor does it cut the cutouts within the corners. I finally gave up and ran it through my Big Shot and it worked much better.

Spellbinders have finally emailed me and have offered to send me new master mats and a new magnetic spacer plate as they think that the magnetic spacer mat sometimes do flatten out after a lot of use. I have not used mine very much at all - max 20 times.

Spellbinders also said that they will send a S5 spacer plate that I can use in place of my magnetic plate to see if that helps. I'm not sure how the S5 spacer plate will make that much difference because it is quite a bit thicker than the magnetic mat and my issue is that even if I shim with a very thin piece of paper it causes the Wizard to seize up and the reverse lever won't work because the sandwich is stuck in between the rollers.

Still I'll give it a go because the videos I have seen on UTube all make it look so easy and the Fleur de Lis die should only need 2 passes in the Wizard which has a lifetime warranty on it. Time will tell..

Still it's a starting point and Spellbinders are now trying to help which is great. Will keep you posted.

We'll see what they come back with.
Pat, I didn't read all the suggestions here but I was having trouble with my fancy tags. I ended up adding one piece of card stock to the top of my sandwich and running it back and fourth three times. It worked like a charm. I think some of the new dies are a hair more shallow or so detailed that they need a hair more pressure that the usual sandwich. Let me know if that works for you.
