Default NEW PAPER FOR ALCOHOL INKS

If you enjoy Alcohol Inks you might want to check out Sandy Allnock's latest blog post. She tested a new paper called Mineral Paper with her AIs -- it's made from rocks! Bottom line: works as well as Yupo and it's HALF the price. Gotta love a product that saves some dough. Here's a link to Sandy's post:

Is this similar as the clay coated paper that Ranger used to sale? I know Yasutomo is a higher end brand.

I know mineral paper is calcium carbonate. I also know clay coated paper can be calcium carbonate too. I didn't know if Ranger used a different formulation.

Ranger's glossy card stock/alcohol ink card stock are clay coated - still available.

Are the Arches & Ranger's cardstock the same or is there a difference? I really love clay coated and mineral paper to work with. I don't want to buy something that is similar to what I already own. Thank you for any help.

I have Ranger Glossy card stock & alcohol ink card stock - they're the same just different labels. I also have Yasutomo multi media mineral paper - it is much thinner than the card stock & more matte.

I don't know anything about Arches.

Thank you so much for the comparison. I don't know why I said Arches when we are talking about Yasutomo, lol. I will blame it on peri brain and hot flashes. I would love a thinner mineral paper to work with. I will definitely be checking it out.

I have been on the look-out for Alcohol ink paper. I have Yupo and Duramax (sp?). I found that photo paper works great. Now that I get my photos printed for me, I have lots of photo paper for my ink projects!

Photo paper gives different results. The back works better.

I saw that someone had good luck with poster board, which is pretty inexpensive. I bought some, but haven't yet tried it.

That sounds interesting. I would not have thought to try that. I might have to get some poster board just to see what happens. Thanks for the tip.
