I see Joanns has them on sale for 50% off..can you please tell me if you prefer the table top models, or the big floor lamps?? I realize there is a HUGE jump in price. I kinda want one that would be mobile, but also provide a lot of light for a project working on at night..thanks
I have a small portable one that I got at Michaels. I think the regular price not on sale was about $60.
I only stamp at night at a table in my living room, and the lamp provides me plenty of light. I don't wear prescription glasses and have normal vision, but am at the age to need reading glasses for handwork. You can adjust it so nicely to go right over what you are working on, and it is easy to pick up and move.
I really didn't have room or a place for a floor model so I like the smaller one.

I have the Task Lamp and love it. It retails for $79.99 so is about $40 on sale. It is compact enough that it can easily be portable (folds and has a top handle) yet gives off quite a bit of light. I shine it directly on my work area (hence the name).
I have both the table top AND floor model. It just depends on where I am actually working. I do have a stamp room, but sometimes I wanna spend some time out in the living room so I take me table top OTT lamp with me.
Hi! Kramomma ask me for comments on this thread and since I sell lighting for a living here goes! I am more familiar with the verilux lamps and have 3 tabletops in my craftroom, hwever I know the ott lamps are comparable and give off the same type of lighting. They are flourescent and give a very broad beam of light, I could not get by without mine as I mostly stamp in a dark cellar with no natural light. I see they are on sale at M's this week too, great deals on them, and I say go for it! I have the table top models as floor space is very limited, I also have a folding one near my computer where I upload pictures, I often use it when photographing my cards to post them. The only caution I might add is that although the fluorescent lamp is full spectrum, be careful of your colors and if need be check in other light sources to make sure they are what you like. this probabaly rings more for paint artists than stampers as gable green is gable green is gable green! KWIM? Let there be light! ((((HUGS)))))Nancyruth
Just to let you know you might want to check out the Lowes store, they have the floor model and the table top and for half the price that the craft stores are selling them for. They also have 2 different brands. So check out the hardware store, I know Lowe's sells the light bulb for only $12.00 not 28.00 like at Joanns.
I have noticed lately in our local Walmarts that they are carrying the OttLites in the craft dept. The tabletop one was $39.96 and the floor model was $79.96. They had replacement bulbs for I think 12 or 13 dollars.
