Default ???? Prisma colorless Blender Marker

Can these be used with the Prisma Premeir colored pencils? If so how do you use it and also when you are finished how do you clean it before the next color. Can it be used with Bic and Sharpie Markers? Thanks so much

I got one of these Prisma Blending markers in a Prisma set from ebay - and I have never even tried it out! Isn't that silly?

You have reminded me I have it. I will try to use it in the next few days and report on it.

I have a few Prisma markers that I use in combination with my Bics and Sharpies, but I have yet to use the blender marker.

Oops, I just noticed you asked about using the blender marker with the Prisma pencils. I would say probably not. There is a colorless Prisma blending pencil that you are supposed to use with the pencils.

I have the same question. Michaels has a set of Prisma colored pencils accessories that includes the blender pen as well as a pencil sharpener, eraser and a few other things so this makes me think that it can be used with the pencils.

Here is the Prisma pencil accessory set. It looks like it comes with a blending pencil for the pencils, and a colorless blending marker for the markers.

I really do think you can only use the blending pencil for pencils, and the marker blender for the Prisma markers.

You can use the colorless marker or blender pencil to blend Prismacolor Premier pencils. The marker doesn't move the color around as easily as Gamsol, but it moves it more than the colorless blender pencil does. The marker you get in the accessory kit is actually just a colorless Prismacolor marker. No need to buy the whole kit just to try the marker. To clean the marker between colors, you just scribble on some scrap paper until all the color comes off the tip. If you're doing alot of blending of the same color, you'll want to clean the tip every now and then because the wax from the pencil will build up if you don't.

The colorless blender pencil is very cool, but works best if you have built up a good layer of color or you're working on nice smooth paper. Once you have your colors down, you go over everything with the blender using fairly heavy pressure. I usually work in small circles. The blender will smooth out your color filling in the grain of the paper and will also add a sheen to the surface. This technique is called burnishing, and you can also do the same thing with light colored pencil. Yellow works really well over greens and oranges, for example the autumn leaves in the last card I posted below.

I don't have any examples using the marker, but here are some examples using the blender pencil:

Hope that helps!

I posted about this subject back in 2006...thanks for reminding me that I need to use that "clear blender" marker more! I used it with the Prismacolor pencils, and compared it to blending with gamsol. There is a photo attached with this thread:

I hope this is helpful!

If you leave it on the tip for too long before removing it, the pigment residue may turn into a persistent stain that will be difficult to remove. It is important that you scribble the colorless blender marker in a single direction – upward or downward. Do not scribble it on paper as if you are doodling randomly or harshly scratching the tip against the surface to quickly get rid of the pigments.
