I saw a box of Prismacolor pencils at Walmart (in Canada) and was wondering if I should get them. I like coloring in my stamped images and currently use SU classic ink and a blender pen or watercolor pen. Do the pencils make much of a difference or should is save my $25.00.
Do you just color in the image and use a blender pen?
Should a person get the pencils or the Prismacolor markers? Is there a big difference between the two?
I have never colored with anything but SU inks so I have no idea. Is it better to use the SU pencils?
I saw them in the stationary section. Our Walmart has about 3-4 isles with crayola markers, pens/pencils, envelopes, office paper, etc. and they were hanging up with all that stuff. I can't remember exactly which isle but most Walmarts seem to be set up the same so check the stationary section. Let me know if you find them.
Which pencils are better - Prismacolor or SU pure color pencils? Or is there a difference? You would get more pencils in the box with Prismacolor - I think there were 24 approx. I didn't look all that closely at the box so I don't know the exact number or colors.
If you want to use the Gamsol with the Prismacolor pencils, I think you want to buy the "Premiere" ones ... the ones I have seen at Walmart (and I am also in Canada) are not the Premiere ones. I'm not sure exactly what the difference is, but this is what I've read in various places.
Someone posted the other day that oriental trading on line has prismacolor and sure enough they do. Very good selection and prices maybe check them out for the premeire ones... HTH
I think Gamsol is a brand of oderless mineral spirits. I was reading in the Resources section - see post #2 for the link - and it explains it. You have to use the blending stumps with the gamsol from what I gather.
Yes Charlene, that is correct. I just my Prismacolor pencils at Michaels with a 50% coupon ... I got the 48 colour pack. I havent used them much yet - I'm waiting for my Gamsol to arrive from Inky Antics ... cant wait!
You can use oderless mineral spirits (that you get at Michaels) instead of waiting for the gamasol. I bought mine there. The bottle had Mona Lisa on it and says "Oderless Mineral Spirits". Works perfectly.
Can I say what a difference these pencils have made in my coloring? I used to hate line image stamps (only bought solid image stamps) but now I can use anything. Still not up there with some of the best people on SCS...but I'm certainly not ashamed of my coloring skills anymore!
