Default Re - inkers

I have a stampin club and the ladies have been attending for quite a while.

I love it and they seem to, But, I am at a loss for the next question they have for me. Please share any ideas you may have......

What can you do with reinkers besides moisten your pads....

Thanks for your help....

Gosh, there are so many techniques there because I don't have any, and from time to time I have to sit out or improvise in the TLC challenges on Mondays. There was one recently, faux batik. I'd say go and check out that section of the challenges and you'll find several ideas. Because I don't have any, I don't take proper note of them. You can colour beautifully with them, using a water-brush.

I think I have used maybe 3 of my 50+ reinkers for refilling pads, but I have used almost every single one for watercoloring with a waterbrush!!

That's the main reason I buy them...I really don't use the pads as much as the reinkers!

Shaving cream technique...one of my faves. Also baby wipe swipe or kaleidoscope. Another is lighting soaking a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol, adding a few drops of different reinker colors, then dabbing the cotton ball on glossy white paper. Not sure what it's called.

You can make shaving cream backgrounds, baby wipe technique and there is the acetate and tissue technique. Check out the Resources section right here on SCS.

I am an old fashonied girl and still enjoy polished stone, shaving cream backgrounds, and oy! what is it called when you emboss and image and then do polished stone on top and heat it up again? Well, I really like that too, LOL!

Oh and don't forget to look in the "Re-inker tip sheet"

On another thread someone mentioned making your own Stickles, using Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Crystal Effects and the reinker color of your choice. If you have an empty reinker bottle, you can even use that to house your SU "stickles". This sounds too cool.....

I really enjoyed making the Christmas ornaments with them last year and using them to color flowers for cards/scrapbook pages.

I also love the polished stone look...I made some cards with Eggplant and summer sun using this technique and they are very striking,...
Blessings.

A woman at a recent stamping show did something that was amazing (but probably not new). She mixed some re-inker ink with alcohol in a small spray bottle. She sprayed it on glossy cardstock. Then she placed a piece of plastic wrap on it, bunched it a little here and there, and set it aside to dry. When she removed the plastic wrap, the background design it had created was absolutely beautiful. I liked the technique so much that I bought some mini mister bottles at Michael's yesterday. I'm going to give it a try.
