I loved the IKEA Stackebo ink pad storage that so many people posted about, but by the time I got to an IKEA, they were discontinued. So my dad and I worked out some measurements and built our own. I think they turned out well, and since my dad is notorious for building things 10x stronger than they need to be, they're much sturdier than the IKEA option! We finished them pretty plainly, so if I ever want to paint them or anything, it should be easy.
It was actually pretty simple to make once we got the wood cut... I don't have the measurements at hand, but I found boards at Lowes that were the right length for the backboard and about 6cm wide, and bought 5. I marked three of the boards at 4 cm, and cut the shelves from that, then marked the backboards at 3cm and mounted the shelves with wood glue and, once the glue was dry, drilled holes for two screws for each shelf in the back. The wood is 1.5 cm deep and the ink pads are a couple of millimeters short of 1.5, so 3 cm gave just enough room to move them easily but still hold them.
I've thought about it - it's a shame that the IKEA ones aren't available any more, since the design is such a great one for ink (and let's face it, there aren't a lot of options out there for ink storage if you want to pay less than about $50). I wouldn't even know where to start, though!

Well, maybe just assemble like 5 of them and go from there, maybe you could start here w/ the B/S/T forum, then if they do well, go to ebay or something?? I think someone else was selling a few they had made awhile back, or maybe I'm just dreaming that...good luck~!...and where were you when I bought my SU color caddy??? I would LOVE a wall mounted storage that doesn't take up the entire wall!
This is so cool - thanks for sharing it!!! Does it hold other ink pads? I have a mix of ink pads with only a handful of full-sized SU! pads. I would love ink pad storage on my wall!

The measurements I gave only hold SU! pads... I have one or two other brands, and they didn't fit. The key is to get the spaces between the shelves precise enough that they don't fall out, so if you measure the width of the ones you have, you could adjust accordingly.
I've talked to my dad, and he'd be willing to build more of these with me (I've got the know-how, but he's got the tools!). I'll post in the BST forum with details, but if anyone is interested, PM me.

Just had to comment on this- must be a "dad" thing. We once had bunkbeds my dad had built- he had to take an axe to them when we moved!! Too heavy and built in room! hehehehe
