Default Ribbon Ring

Does anyone have the Ribbon Ring? It looks like a cool way to store ribbon. Any thoughts?

No, it looks like it would take more time than needed.

I've looked at it, but I've already adopted the system i saw Nichole Heady (from Papertrey) using, and it's working really well for me. She winds her ribbon as she gets them on spools and stores them in big jars (here's a link: http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capt...ew-studio.html )

Mine are just in one of the drawers of my plastic file-drawer thingy, but I've been able to find things really quickly, and everything fits in just *one* drawer now that their off of the spools, which is amazing to me. Someday, my dream stamping space will look like Nichole's (maybe), and all my ribbon will be color sorted into candy-store jars, waiting for creations galore *sigh* ;o)

I think it'd be a really good system, especially if you have a towel rod or clip-it-up or something to clip that ring to...all your ribbon would be handy, you'd be able to see it all (and seeing it is the first step toward using it!), and it'd look pretty. It might be hard if you had really long pieces of ribbon though (like SU! sells), but maybe those you'd just leave on hte spool, and you'd reserve this system for by-the-yard purchases...

just some of my thoughts. I'd love to hear what others think, though, too!

I have been storing my ribbon on the big rings like that but using the "Clip It Up" hooks to hang it on the ring. I have them hanging in the closet on the clothes bar that is in my craft room . I was thinking about getting one of the long Bigel bars from Ikea and hanging them on wall though.

I tried storing my ribbon around the clothes pins and didn't like it. I still had to search for what I have and it also curls the ribbon. It looks cute but didn't work for me. I like this way because I can see what I have really easy and just take the ribbon I want down without moving anything else. :p

I have my ribbon sorted & hung by color groups. Then sorted within each group by solids, stripes, dots, floral etc., just like my pattern paper is. They are all on seperate rings which is great because it keeps it seperated.

I like those plastic tags too. I might have to try those out. ;)

I think that would be too fussy. I have an iris cart that has 4 drawers. The bottom two are very deep. I have the ribbon sorted by color on their original spool. I filled both drawers and had more ribbon so I went to the dollar store and got 2 or 3 small baskets to put black and white ribbon in. They lay right on top of the others and the drawers still close

I actually think that looks pretty cool! I have WAY too much ribbon for that though!

I think I'm going to order it. I don't have a ton of ribbon. Right now I have it stored on the spools in a plastic box and it's hard to find what I'm looking for. I also think it might help you realize how much ribbon you have. A lot of those spools are deceiving and I hate starting a project thinking I'll have enough ribbon, only to realize there isn't much there.

My only concern would be how much each card holds. It would be great for small lengths or scraps but way to small for say a roll like SU! sells....

The site says if you have long rolls of ribbon, you should cut it. I'm not sure if I would do that or not. Right now, I only have the SU! ribbon from a ribbon co-op, so it wouldn't be a problem.
