This punch is in our Australian mini which is to be released in December. I really want one but it looks very much like the Fiskars border punches. I have had a few of them and have broken two - they do not punch well and do not like the cardstock I found.
I would love some feedback on the Stampin' Up scallop edge punch - does it punch well??
TIA, Jean

I don't know about the SU punch. But last month I broke TWO Fiskars Sunburst border punches.... mine and my friends. Fiskars immediately replaced both of them and gently informed me that their punches are designed to work on 60 lb. paper. Since I mostly use 80 lb. or higher, I guess I will have to be very careful from now on.
Jean,
I've had Fiskars border punches that would only punch paper, not CS, so I don't buy them any more. But go ahead and buy that SU! Scallop Border punch with confidence!
I was so chuffed to see it in our UK catty and I ordered one immediately - it is fabulous! It punches SU! CS easily. I've attached a pic of a card I made the other day with it. Buy and enjoy!
Yes, I will say the Fiskars punches can be touchy and can/do break at times or get stuck.
The main advantage I find to the Fiskars scallop punch is that it begins and ends with a ful scallop. The Stampin' Up one begins and ends with a half scallop.
Also the grid on the Fiskars border punch is easier to follow and line things up (in my opinion).
Each is very good for different applications depending on the project.
I bought the SU punch and it didn't work well at all! I would push down the handle thingy and it didn't come back up unless I pushed on the bottom with a pair of scissors. My demo is supposed to be getting me a replacement (yea!) but it seems like sometimes you just get a dud. Other than that one, I have had great success with SU punches.
I have the SU scalloped edge punch and it doesn't punch out a nice clean edge...I recieved a second one and that one is a little better but still not nice and clean...I also used my demos and it was the same...
I bought the SU scallop border punch. When I tried it, the edges were fuzzy. I tried the aluminum/waxed paper 'fix' but it didn't work. My demo replaced it with hers which makes cleaner edges. I went to a workshop and the demo used her scallop punch for a card. Hers also made fuzzy edges so I guess, it just depends. (No one else seemed to notice but I wasn't happy with the result.) Some cut clean and others do not.
I had the Fiskar's Threading Water punch before I bought the SU scallop punch. I actually find the Threading Water punch much easier to use, and I get perfectly clean punches with it, while the SU punch always punches ratty looking. I wonder if I just have a defective SU punch.
Thank you all for your responses! Going by all I read now, it seems it is just luck if you get one that you are happy with. I have just about worn out my poor corner rounder punch from punching scalloped edges with it LOL. I guess I will order one and hope for the best. Seems some girls just love theirs so I might be lucky LOL.
Many thanks again everyone, Jean
