Default Scor-Pal or Martha Stewart score board

I am seriously considering purchasing a Scor-Pal. In searching posts I stumbled across the Martha Stewart Score Board (I think that is what it is called).

My husband will be going right by Michaels on his way to a short conference (we live 2 hours away from Michaels - the closest craft place - thank you Joanne's for leaving us crafters high and dry) and I was thinking maybe I could get the MS Score board since Scor-Pal is not at Michael's.

Any pro's and con's for both types? He leaves for the trip by noon - so I need to know pretty quick.

Thanks for any help.

I just found something called a Score-It... now which do you like better? Different applications for each product?

Here is a great comparison of the Score Pal and the MS Scoreboard:

Crafting with Sue: Scor-pal vs The Martha Stewart Scoring Board...

PS There is a 50% off coupon running in the left margin here on the board for Martha Stewart craft items. I think it's good through October 30.

I just got an MS score board, and I love it! I don't own a Score-pal, so I can't compare. I read about the scoring tool not staying in the tracks, I have not had that problem. I use the tool at a low angle and have had good success with it.

I have both. I loved the Score-Pal but it is sooo limited on the measurements and I am making boxes etc. So I got a MS score board. I love it too! I had a bit of a problem with the scoring tool staying in the track but I use my big sturdy bone folder (same shape as MS) and it stays in the track perfectly. I feel quilty having both but I really needed the MS with all the measurements.

I like my Scor Pal more than my mini Scor It. The Scor It gives me a nicer crisp score but it's not as easy to use because I need to "find"where I need to score (usually the center) and so it takes me longer to use and I have to think, too. The score on the Scor It is metal and that is the reason for a much nicer score.

I am interested in getting the Scor Buddy as it has more score lines and is more compact for my crafting table.

I have both, but prefer the MS board much better due to it being more functional. I use a MS bone folder (the pink one) with it, and have no troubles skipping the track. Scor-Pal is great if you are just scoring basic things, unless you feel like doing the math. MS.. there are no limits.

Well, my husband picked up the MS scoring board and will be home tonight. I hope to have some time this weekend playing with it and will let you know how it works.

Thank you for your comments and links - really helped me!!

What a sweet hubby! Hope you like your MS. I have both and bought the MS version for the same reason as others...more measurement score lines...especially helpful for doing boxes. I think you'll enjoy playing with it. Have fun!

Yay, I can't wait to hear how you like it! My score board immediately went to the top of my "what did I ever do without this" list. It took me months to talk myself into buying one because I thought it was just "fluff," that I could use the scoring blade on my cutter, or a bone folder to make folds. I was so wrong. It's kind of like saying I don't need a cutter/trimmer because I can just use a pair of scissors.

Tell us what you think after you've had some time to play with it!!

I recently gave away my Scor-Pal to a friend. I am going to use my 50% coupon at Michaels to get the Martha Stewart scoring board.
I tried, really tried to love the Scor-Pal, but ended up using it for some score marks and then putting the cs back in my trimmer for other ones. It became too frustrating, so, I'm going with the MS one.
Now you just watch Stampin' Up! come out with an awesome one that I'll have to have as a demo!

Be sure to check out the New and Improved Scor-Pal. When we updated the groove spacing we felt grooves every 1/8th of an inch was just mind boggling, hard on the eyes and very confusing. We chose to have grooves every 1/4" and 1/8th at the first and last inch for decorative embossing. There are other new features too. I am sure you would love it. From what we hear from people who has just received their new Scor-Pal they are LOVING it. It also comes with a handy booklet for making many, many different envelope, enveloboxes and envelosatchels.

Smile You probably already got something...

.....as I am just surfing the older sites.....

I got the MS Scoreboard at Michael's with a 40% off coupon. I love it because of the 1/8th increments, but I know now that ScorePal has revised theirs to have the same thing.

Hope this helps!

I have the older scor-pal. I love it!! I made cards for a Christmas gift last night. The score-pal made it so easy and the cards are so nice with the score lines. It would be nice to have more measurments on the new one.
