The Score-It has a plastic base with a thin rubber layer on top to 'grip' the c/s. There are measurements across the top on both sides of a thin metal bar that you use to make your score with a special tool that comes with the Score-It. There is a groove on the bottom of the tool so that when you apply pressure the c/s will bend over the metal bar.
The Score Pal is a plastic base with measurements across the top and grooves going up & down that you use to score with a the included tool. As you run the scoring tool down the c/s it pushes the c/s into the groove to make your score.
I'm not good at painting a verbal picture but you could go on either tools website and I'm sure there will be a picture.
For myself, I like the Score Pal better because you don't have to keep picking up your c/s and moving it if your project has multiply scores. i.e. waterfall card, etc. I also had trouble with the metal bar on the Score-It because if you put too much pressure on the top and bottom of the c/s you cut the paper.
Hope this helps. I know other will be better at explaining the different tools and will include their pros & cons about both.

I love this about the Scor-Pal, too...also like that there's a storage spot for the little scoring tool right on the Scor-Pal. The tool just snaps in and out. Always know where to find it and it doesn't get lost (as long as I put it right back there as soon as I'm finished using it!)
I have the Scor-it and I like the professional fold that it gives my cards. It's hard to describe. It's kind of like a mini W. However, with the Scor-it you have to more your paper to make the folds and with the ScorPal you do not. I used to get crooked folds until I started holding the paper down on either side of the score channel.
I've been following these threads and the popular vote seems to be for the Scor Pal. Scor Pal is one of the member companies here at SCS and so probably has a greater exposure to people on this site, but I think that the ease of use is what is helping it edge out the Scor-it. Also, they have done a wonderful job of sharing projects using the Scor Pal on their website.
When I first started looking into purchasing a scoring tool, the Scor Pal was just being made available with preorders. I chose the Scor-it at the time because the information I found on the forums about the professional fold.
I'm still not sure which tool I would choose if I had to do it all over again. I don't regret buying my Scor-it. I love the professional fold, but it looks like the Scor Pal would be easier and quicker to use once you had your measurements figured out. You should try them both out in person if you can find a store that has both or either.
I have the Scor it and it is great for prepping for classes. I can set the edge stop at any measurement on the ruler and quickly and accurately score multiple cards. That alone has made it worthwhile for me. I am thinking about a scor pal but at the price vs how often I would be doing multiple fold items I can do without it for now. Think about what you plan to do with it and how comfortable you are with doing your own measuring.
I have had the large ScorIt for over a year & I love it. I use it on every card I make. A trick a demo gave us at a convention was to lightly run the tip of your finger down your cardstock where you're going to score it. The oil from your fingers (you don't see it), makes the tool slide easier. I didn't like to leave the tool hanging so I attached a small piece of velcro to the board & to the tool. I just stick the tool on the edge of the board & voila - no swinging tool. Love my ScorIt! I like the sturdiness of the ScorIt also. On the home page for SCS they have a blurb about the ScorIt. I guess some of the design team received them to use & give pros and cons. It's an interesting article.

I have the scor-pal and I do love it, BUT I do have to move my paper to make multiple scores. The ones I want are never on the board!
I find myself lining it up on the 4 line to score at 4.25 quite a bit.... and other
tricks. But I have yet to make a project that I can put the paper in place and do all the scoring without moving it!
This blog post by Sharon Johnson (notimetostamp) is the best and most thorough comparison of these two products that I've seen. Unfortunately, her solution is to own BOTH!
Another vote for Score Pal - it's accurate and so easy, even a CaveWoman can use it! ;) That last part's a joke - but the rest of it is true, Score Pal is a wonderful product and I use it on EVERY card I make.

Bwwaaahahahahha! Love that (and my Scor-Pal!).

I have a Scor-Pal and love it along with all the neat projects that are shown/tutorials on the Scor-Pal website.
I just looked at the website of the written opinion/description that is referenced in Post #20. I do have a question though about the Score-It. The accuracy of the scoring is only as good as the person lining up the paper edge to the ruler markings at the top, correct? I see no paper guide to lay my paper up against for the ruler marking. I'd need to use it in person to really determine if it's accurate enough. Seems like the user would really need to be accurate.
I only have the Scor-Pal, and it quickly became one of those "what did I ever do before I had this?" item. I LOVE it. I used my 30% off coupon at Archiver's so it was really reasonable.
For those of you who have both a Scor-it and Scor-Pal, can you tell me if the actual score line is crisper or folds nicer than the other?
Also, can you create a decorative square with score lines in the middle of a card or are the tools designed to only begin a score line at the top edge of the paper?
I love my score-pal! My husband saw a really cool card that someone made to like like bathroom tiles and he told me I Had to get one. So I got one and I love it, but I think my husband has used it more than I have.
Oh and by the way my cavewoman friend was toatlly offended!!! HAHAHAHA!!!
I just got a Scor-Pal about a week ago and love it. I almost always am disappointed in tools and wonder why the manufacturer didn't make it an obviously better way. This is the first tool in a long time that I find no fault with. Love the way it lines up and the measurements for the scoring lines. I bought it because I wanted to make some gatefold cards and tried four times without having the scores line up correctly. I bought a Scor-Pal the next day and wonder why I didn't do it sooner. Used a 40% off coupon at a local store, so it was very reasonable.

Where did you find the coupon for Archiver's? I have one not too far from me and would like to check out their store so I can see the Scor-Pal. Marco's paper here in town has the Scor-It and has a 40% off coupon. I'd like to check them both out. I have something called the Crafter's Companion - I haven't used it and am reluctant to try it, I've read it's really confusing.
I have the Scor-It and have had it for several years and LOVE it! I actually have the big one and last year (or was it this year) bought the mini. I've found that I get the best folds when I put the top on the bottom (if that makes sense) because as you draw the tool across the paper you are pulling down instead of up. I got this tip somewhere and can't remember where. I have my guide set at 4 1/4" and can do lots of cards at one time. I just cut, scored and folded 80 cards and did it lickity split! I do use the top of my Tonic paper cutter to butt the two edges together as sometimes I cut crooked. I've found when I do cut a little crooked, the score is big enough that I can fudge it a little. I've never used a Score Pal so I can't comment on it. However, I just bought the Crafters Companion package which includes The Enveloper and the Top Score which looks similar to Scor-Pal. I am finding that I have to be very careful that I don't push to hard or I will do what I did on my first attempt - cut through the paper :(. One word of advise - once you get a scoring board YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO LIVE WITHOUT IT! Janet I just read your post and I don't actually find it confusing. If you go on their website they have videos showing you how to use it and while you watch it, look at the pamphlet that came with it.

Personally I prefer the Scor-Pal. So easy to use, plus it is lighter-weight than the Scor-It. Also like the cutting/stamping mat that fits on the bed of the Scor-Pal so that you can MULTI-use it LOL
Another vote for scor-pal. Even though I paid full price, always had trouble getting a proper crease with the boner. No problem now, use it on every card. Slides under the desk, right by my feet. Best $ I've spent on a tool.
I like both very much. I got the score it mini and I love it because it is small and you can take it with you. So I think my vote would be for the score it.

I have and use both, but really believe the score line on the Scor-It is much more defined. I bought the Scor-It mini and only wish I had bought the full-size. I can't do larger than a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card on the mini and my measuring guide is so close to the edge, I sometimes knock it off. But, it's still my first pick because of the sharpness of the score and I have no problem scoring boxes in the middle of the page. I use a ruler to measure where I want the box and put very light pencil dots at the corners of the box. Just remember to have the right side of the paper facing up if you want to do decorative scoring with the Scor-It.
